Failteams make me sad. It's only possibly your fault if you are one of the top tanks. You are required to disable their equivalents on the enemy team. If you find yourself in a mid-lower tier tank and are completely swamped its probably because your team did something wrong.

Generally what I see is clumping on one side, flat out ignoring one side and losing the cap.

    Or

Diffuse deployment, they all scatter to fuck or the faster tanks don't wait for the bigger guys for support.

    Fail.
    Knife King of Doltland

I'm not surprised. Anything within three feet of you seems to end up full of knife shaped holes.

most losses really stem from the fact that if you are in a stalemate
one of the heavies (usually me), followed by the rest of the team needs to break it
So i move to break it when the shooting has died down
    and no one follows

they just sit back, and watch me die even though they could have moved in with me
and kill the tanks that are busy shooting at me

We need one more Relic Dolt to join our clan with Tier 5 or higher. We will then be able to do clan wars and start making gold. Which we would be spreading between those that helped. Yes we need you*points* Join Relic Dolts, See the world, shoot other tanks!

I don't have too much problems with games, on average you should be getting 50/50 wins/losses as average should kick in.

I don't mind losses as long as I tried to make a good push in it.

Unlocked IS-4 yday. Damn IS-3 would be such a nice and fast heavy, if not for the weak frontal armor and pike nose, which is harder to use then the straight slope. Now it plays like a buffed medium and medium killer, its dynamics allow to go flanking and hunt MT there.

T29 is a very strong heavy for tier 7, lacks the IS speed but gun and armor quite make up for it. Can pen IS-4 frontally if you shoot in the driver hatch.

Working my way to T32 now.

  7. The Studio Senior Member Dawn of War Senior Member  #607
T29 really is the best of that round up
however just make sure the enemy doesn't shoot your ears
it doesn't take a lot of shots to take you out

hehe, someone after getting raped in game told me to l2p
because i beat the snot out of him in a heavy.
    which is pretty funny,
because i have better win/damage ratios in my non-heavies

20K off from the S51. Tonight it shall be mine! I have gone full German on everything else, might as well enjoy the one Rus thing that I really wanted. Alas I will still need to get the upgraded gun as soon as possible. Is it me or is the German Art dumbed down a bit? If you look Rus takes less exp to unlock, yet has more damage same pen. It's just so sad.

The Germans have ze Assault Hummel to troll people who get close only to find the SPG that has been driving the team bonkers the entire game manoeuvres like a medium and just blasted them into little itty tank components. And the GW Panther/Tiger both make up for the less damage over the RU equivalents by firing roughly twice as fast and being more accurate. The Germans do not suffer in the artillery department.

And then you get the russian T8 arty which is more accurate than some direct firing guns and deals almost 2k of damage almost two times a minute.

French T8 arty - 155mm howitzer with automatic loaders.
    E=mc^(OMG)/wtf

  12. The Studio Senior Member Dawn of War Senior Member  #612
155mm seems relatively low caliber for an arty of that teir

  13. #613
But i sure 155mm on 10 per minute will ruin everyone day.

Looking at the tech tree again, it appears the french have the Renault Char G1 in Tier 5.

    30 tonnes.
    40kph.
    60mm sloped armor.
    Semi-automatic loader.
    Gun Stabilizer.
    Automatic fire-extinguishers.
    High Velocity 75mm cannon.

It's going to be hilariously overpowered for it's tier unless they keep it's health down.

So, tracers are gone, arty isn't fun anymore, it's easier but not that much fun since all you do now is point and click.

I approve of this change, it makes my su-152 that much less killable

I should have a Tiger tonight. Booya. I am going to hate it all over again probably but oh well. ISU next, bl-10 after. Happy days.

Got the S-51, still need the main cannon. So far already had a five kill in second game. Not having tracers kind of messes with me. As normally I would watch the tracer hit the tank. Now the only way I know if I hit is if the tank flashes otherwise sometimes I don't see anything and can't tell if I missed or if for some reason my shell hit something else?

Oh, tracers were disabled? I was getting ready to rant about premium shells. It's surprising how bad off I am without being able to see shots. Not knowing how many people are shooting me or where they roughly are makes playing a medium very very hard.

Yep. Tracers are off right now until Early July it seems.

    http://forum.worldoftanks.com/index....-tracer-hacks/

So art is going to be so heavy you'll see arty choking the game down. Light tanks and mid tanks are hard to play but heavy is going to be not worth it till this is fixed. You click, at some point it hits something, ground tank or those damn trees.

    Have you seen this yet?

a WoT Video explaining clan wars
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQ_Yca2XLBE

looks like it will be tough for us to hold even one territory
unlike company battles, there are no teir limits
so it is possible for our little group to face an entire team of tier 10 tanks

Yea possible but very very low chance. It all depends on the clan, and how much of they have put down. We have enough effective people, but we don't have people who show up every night to play. That may be our largest problem, dependability. If we had everyone showing up at least once a night we could hold one location and keep it stocking up on gold and credits. We have 17 people, some just started others are higher up in the food chain, we could still hold something if we really wanted to try. Just need the people who want to.

  22. #622
I never saw anything about what happens if you get defeated on the map. Do you have to sit out the "tournament" or do they add you to a new Europe?

  23. The Studio Senior Member Dawn of War Senior Member  #623
the coastal areas are were you start out
    and likewise
if you get beat off the map
you can try attacking another coastal area
to get yourself back onto the map
once you get enough chips to do so

Is the Relic clan still looking for members? I have a KV-3 I could probably loan out, as well a tepidly upgraded IS. I'm technically grinding exp for both, but much more so for the IS.

Oh yeah, there's also a Panzer IV that could go out too but that might be a bit of a lightweight. :P

This is the first thing I've seen given to artillery in a long while. Everyone always craps on artillery, blames them first when the game turns sour, and always whines about how Imba and Uber they are. I've seen nothing but nerfs on them ever since the game was closed beta. I think Artillery keeps the game interesting since it suppresses heavy tanks and keeps everyone on the move. More often than not I've seen games with no artillery turn into camp-fests, which wouldn't happen on some maps with Artillery there to keep you moving and on your toes. Now that scouts can't see where they are on the first shot I'd guess it would keep the game moving.

While I agree that Artillery does get shat on all the time, more often then not unfairly, saying it reduces camping just isn't what happens. On the EU side when there is no artillery people are willing to manoeuvre around more without fear of the rod from god (if it even exists) instead of sit behind artillery safe cover. Also it doesn't really change the fact that being shot at and heavily damaged by some coward sitting back at spawn isn't anything but a frustrating experience. And its even worse when they are on your team and attempt to kill a tank you are dogfighting and kill you instead.

I think it all depends on the players, i have seen fights on Malinovka that were exciting with or without arty and everybody was doing something, these were one of the closer matches and most fun in my opinion.Yet there are matches on maps that aren't usually campy that degrade into campfests and waiting matches regardless of arty presence.

See, I've experienced such an opposite effect ingame that I refuse to chalk that idea up to anything other than theorycrafting. If you leave your bush and go maneuvering in a no-SPG game you can get barraged by any number of things. In fact, if you're maneuvering around, you're significantly less likely to get hit by SPGs as they can't hit moving targets for shit.

    also..

Also it doesn't really change the fact that being shot at and heavily damaged by some coward sitting back
...Coward? Holy shit, you're playing a goddamn videogame, and so are they. No one is a coward because no one has anything to lose. If you find it frustrating, maybe you should learn to deal with it (and maybe even play it some) before complaining.

Oh, but I have played artillery. And I got so bored of it I sold it. If you call clicking on people from a spy sat after waiting 30 seconds for your aim to close in, miss, and then start again fun... well. I don't know what's wrong with you TBH. I think artillery is boring to play and frustrating to play against if you don't want to either risk the one shell that cripples you or sit behind a rock/house/hill for most of the battle.

See, I've experienced such an opposite effect ingame that I refuse to chalk that idea up to anything other than theorycrafting. Hitting moving tanks isn't that easy (it can be done, I've done it, and not all tanks can move fast enough to be that hard of a target), but driving around in the open is a great way to get blown up by TDs and heavys. So lets move behind this cover here... oh wait, its not artillery safe. So your screwed. In a non arty game you can take cover that protects you from other tanks without constantly worrying about incoming artillery shells, so you can flank people and pick them off without fear of 1/2/3/4 shells flying from half way across the map. I've never seen the lack of artillery makes people camp more. Artillery never stopped people from camping, it just made them camp behind artillery safe cover.

...Coward? Holy shit, you're playing a goddamn videogame, and so are they. No one is a coward because no one has anything to lose. If you find it frustrating, maybe you should learn to deal with it (and maybe even play it some) before complaining.
Excuse my horrible use of the meme, but, u mad bro? I say getting hit by an artillery unit sitting behind all of its team mates with the only way to retaliate with your own artillery or a lucky scout tank cowardly and you respond with rage? And I don't even think arty is nearly as powerful as the real haters claim it is. But that doesn't change its a constant annoyance at best and frustration if your like me and don't want to spend the entire battle behind artillery safe cover at worst.

I found arty mostly boring too, but CB is an always fun game of cat and mouse that has been completely removed from the game and thus rendered me mostly useless in fights where i'm stuck against t8 tanks which i can only scratch a bit harder and nothing else, where before i would be a nusiance to their arty and possibly quite deadly if they were dumb enough to stay in the same spot for a longer period of time (something a scarily large number of people do).

  31. The Studio Senior Member Dawn of War Senior Member  #631
Arty isn't something that really changes my game style
I personally cannot stand playing as artillery. it's very frustrating missing all the time
however as a very aggressive player, I'm usually playing cat and mouse in the front (as a heavy, med or TD)
very rarely is artillery a direct cause of my death.
when i do get smacked by artillery, i pretty much know what I did wrong and how i could have avoided it
I do appreciate it when my team's artillery is good and gets a lot of kills for us too
make the game a lot easier

Arty is a gameplay feature and it's here to stay
it doesn't affect me all that much in the grand scheme of things
and i don't really care for it one way or another
as long as the pieces on my team are good

Speaking of Arty being boring, ask Soldats and Typhoon how I play GW Panther/Tiger. There's a reason why they call me "close combat artillery".

GW Panther is nice for having a half-a-turret somehow. It can be better than a TD in close combat.

    clan map here.
it's actually amazing seeing how the map is already dominated by notable faction
however, note that the Iron Raiders are dominating eastern Europe
there are some very powerful clans running around there

    EDIT:
just played a game with an IR clan member and got offered an application
    I am conflicted!

Well our clan doesn't have a solid base to support full fledged clan wars. We don't have 15 dolts show up every day to play, which means pretty much we are locked from that. I like how we can chat all together though. If you feel that it's important to you hiro, go ahead. If all else enjoy the game, as it is a game, it will be harder to get platoons going tho. This goes for everyone, if you want to join other clans, that's perfectly fine as well. We hoped we could get a larger base for clans, but it seems sadly that the dolt don't have a foot hold in the game. Average we have 6-7 people playing. It does seem it is as well lowering in numbers each night. I plan to keep playing, I don't mind paying for the clan as we had fun and the 10 bucks was worth it in my book as we could stick together and chat easy through the clan talk.

  40. #640
Meh, my clan Iron wolf, just got sandwiched by 3 major clan in Bulgaria and another clan on Sicily so you can imagine how hard to defeat those clans. Also CW time is very not for oceanic people since those time is my school time.

I know what you mean. I get off work come home find the times are already done. Clan Wars seem a bit offish. They will need to do something where it's per time zones and not ever just 24 hours.

  42. #642
Speaking of 24 hour cycle, is the 2x experience still based off your last 2x experience battle? If so, I think they should tie that to time zones as well. In the past, I noticed time creep would eventually cause me to miss days simply because it would become too late to get it. For example, I win at 5:01 p.m. right after work today, tomorrow, I can only get it at 5:02 p.m. This would eventually wind up around midnight before I decided to just skip a day. It would be nice if North America servers used 12:00 a.m. Eastern time as a reset point to guarantee you have the opportunity to get the bonus.

  43. The Studio Senior Member Dawn of War Senior Member  #643
it's tied in with their server times. so there's no creep.
you either get it done during that day, or you wait for the next

I enjoy sniping with the StuG, sitting nicely in a bush and filling someone with high speed death halfway across the map.
But nothing beats getting stuck in with da boyz, especially if those boyz are big t8 tanks and you dance around them hitting their tender areas while they clumsily spin around undecisive of who to hit, the StuG that is plinking away at their rear or the heavy in front of them that can't penetrate their front armor.

While the Pz4 is very fun i always found it too cumbersome, the StuG on the other hand is like a caffeine infused rocket propelled toddler that can zip across the map where support is needed, and if neccessary it can get up close and personal where it's small frame and great agility give it a big advantage even though it doesn't have a turret.

  47. #647
So the only good thing to come out of this game is some of the clan names. "Stug Lyfe" and "Marder she Wrote" are awesome.
