Bilson: New Relic RTS to be announced in August

"An announcement for Relic's new RTS title is scheduled for August.

That's according to THQ's executive VP of core games Danny Bilson, who tweeted exactly that earlier today:

"The big announce for the next Relic RTS should come in August...that's the plan."
    "

    http://www.computerandvideogames.com...coming-august/

And some other websites have the same news.

Well,I hope it's homeworld 3,but DoW 3 seems most likely.

I don't know, unless Relic have suddenly started a second team for the development of 40k RTS games it would be a bit of a stretch for the Dawn of War team to have been working on Retribution and Dawn of War 3 at the same time, and to announce Dawn of War 3 this early is nearly unheard of. It could be a new IP or something to do with Company of Heroes (or the elusive HW3 as said), in fact I do hope it is a sequel to Company of Heroes expanding upon the things that made CoH great.

Well August can't come soon enough, as long as this isn't DoW3. But for the reasons already stated I seriously doubt it is.

    I guess its COH related.

I also doubt it will be august - probably more likely september.

What with COHO getting shut down, there's a good probability it's related to Company of Heroes indeed. Maybe a sequel with better matchmaking?

Homeworld 3 would utterly blow me away though... Here's for hoping.

CoH2 maybe probably? Yay. I wonder if/when they'll announce another expac for dow2 because if they were to do so it would probably be around august or september just like retribution was. Great news either way, quite chuffed.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Yeah it's not HW3, I remember in one of the interviews leading up to Retribution Egon said outright that they were not working on HW3.

The news says 'new Relic RTS' so I don't think it's a continuation of anything already Relic-made. Some new IP probably?

While my hopes for Homeworld 3 are kinda... dead, for Relic's sake I hope it's something original.

Given that Danny Bilson is the one who said "Yeah, as soon as DoW2: Retribution ships then Relic's going full steam ahead with DoW3" to which Relic replied "Whut? We were kind of wanting to, you know, actually decide what we're going to do next with Dawn of War before we started working on whatever that might be...", it's generally best to take anything that comes from his mouth with a grain (or block) of salt.

I'd be half tempted to guess it's something CoH-related, since CoHO was recently killed and the suits-that-be made comments about the future of CoH products being discussed soon (or something like that, anyway.) Homeworld 3 or a new IP (forestry sim, anyone?) would be acceptable too. I'd wager to say that it's not 40k-related, simply because it would be right around the time of the Space Marine release (possibly pulling steam away from it, prompting Relic to club Bilson over the head with the Rhino that THQ made for pulling that shit on them TWICE) and Relic's stated that they're considering doing another DoW2 expansion before moving on to DoW3 and they usually don't announce their expansions until later in the year.

Here's hoping for that long-revered Forestry Sim!

I'm hoping it'll be a new addition to the Company of Heroes family though as I've thoroughly enjoyed the previous games.

A small part of me is holding out for Homeworld 3 though but I wouldn't believe it until I'm firmly gripping the DVD case in my mitts!

Not too sure about Battlefleet Gothic... "Cathedrals in space" doesn't really appeal to me as far as space RTS goes.

I guess we could always do as Starblade said, though...

IMHO if it is Battlefleet Gothic and it sells well, chances of Homeworld 3 will go up. Excited no matter what the IP is though.

    THE HORROR.

No clue what it could be, Relic has too many Ips to play with. What i'd love to see is this:

Heh I would love a fantasy Dawn of War. So hard. In the butt.
But i'm pretty sure there's some bullshit lawyer shenanigans with the Warhammer Fantasy IP so i doubt that'll happen anytime soon, it'll probably be CoH 2 and i doubt it's DoW 3 since Relic has said that they were talking about another expansion for DoW 2 after Retribution.
