    Patch 105

    Evening all,
I downloaded and installed "Patch 105" but had trouble with the Game latter,
so I thought I`d Uninstall the Game "HW 1" and reinstall it, Just for something
to do I had a look in the "Files" on the DVD and found the Patches 104 & 105
were already on the DVD, Is this Normal?, and do`se this mean I`ve installed
    105 over itself without knowing?.
I do not seem to be able to complete the Third Game "Great Wastelands"
at all and wondered if this could be a problem caused by double installation
    of "Patch 105" or not?.

    Thanks in advance,

    Privateer.

homeworld one should be packaged on CD not a dvd. you have pirated copy. the patcher that the homeworld patches use will not let over patch a higher version or the same version.

about the great wastelands what exactly are you having trouble with? being vague in that saying you tried everything is not helpful.

You don't have to worry about installing the patch twice. It does a version check for you when installing a patch to ensure you have the right version to start with.

When you have the patches on the CD, it just means that you have the "game of the year" version of it, which included the patches on the cd, but didn't install them automatically.
In any case, I'd recommend running the game with the patch if at all possible, since it fixes some bugs, and you certainly won't be able to run any mods without it. You should also run the game in the "Windows NT 5.0" compatibility mode. It is the only way you can get the graphics running in OpenGL mode, which is the best looking one IMO.

Write back if you can't get it working, and then we'll see if we can't help you get it running properly.

Orca, Like Ton-Viper indicated, I'm pretty sure the game of the year version and other re-packaged versions sold in other nations include the patch on them. No need to assume he's a pirate.

Privateer, your description of not being able to get past mission 3 was a common one. Occasionally the tray capture process wouldn't complete and you'd be stuck without the end mission. The patch is probably what fixed it for you (but you'd probably have to restart the mission to complete it right?).

I wasn't saying he was a pirate just that his copy wasn't legitamate. I have seen a few fraudulent cd and dvd repacks for sale on amazon now and then.

just plugged in my version of GOTY and no patches in the us distribution at least unless it installs a higher base version less than 1.05 than the original.

    HMmm,
Thank you for that "Orc Commander", at times in life I also have made an uttering only to wish later
that I could take it back or at least enlarge on it!.

    regards,
    Privateer.
