This is my new WIP for US Infantry Skins

    Spoiler

Sorry I have changed computers since I uploaded the US Airborne SKin, so I have lost the original file. However I am working on a new one at the moment.

Nice try on the skins and model mixes. The US Airborne's camo would like some improvements.

Looks more like a Jurassic Park camo to me Anyway, give him a few insignia's, flags or emblems and that would be better.

    Wow, great!

I reallylike your skins, I especially like the center one.
But the last skin doesn't exactly match it's normal map, what I mean is that there are some belts that they aren't colored. You can fix this by either editing the normal map (and do it in the skin itself too, you know the layer that's multiplied) or by coloring the belts.
I really like your skins except that little detail .

thanks dude i was going to edit the normalmap but i forgot when i uploaded this i will update it when it be done

Hey, could you give some advice (or good tutorials) on how to edit the normal map properly. As I'm kind of extremely bad at that .

  21. #21
i havent found a tutorial on it but as far as i can work out you only have to edit the alpha channel in the .nrm file but i've only worked with commandos so not sure bout other units but just like when skinning best technique is trial and error so good luck

Ok, I am trying to make a skin from scratch (make every map myself, dif, norm, spec, occ). That's why I asked.
But with some trial and error it worked (a bit) using crazybump (awesome program btw ).
And now I have a somewhat mediocre normal map .

  23. #23
have you created a new model?

No, just the skin. Although the normal map also models a bit.

Whaha, I just looked at them ingame. And they're awful! They look like a bunch of Quasimodos . Well, trial and error right?

Sure, here's how it looks like in Crazy bump:

Here's how it looks like ingame :

And here are the files, I used crazy bumps generated files and edited them a bit to make them look like COH files (except the normal map and the dif). The files are in .psd because they have the edited part in a separate layer.
