Can't install latest patch

Ok, yes I am a linux user but I've tried patching it on Windows XP. I get the same prob, it says a valid install can't be located (manual patch, when I do it from ingame it doesn't even work in linux (something like download failed go back to menu) and on XP it downloads it but doesn't install it) even though this is a legit copy of the game and key. I paid for it. I hate when companies do this sort of crap to paying customers. ugh. Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't have the CD anymore so I can't reinstall it...

Except I ran out of space on my VM so I had to mount map my network drive (in this case Z) and change C to Z. Man this patch is sooooooooooo big. It made my install go from ~6.8 to 11GB. WTH is in this patch?

Edit: Odd, it went down to 6.9GB but it's still saying its installed and it runs like it works. O_o I wonder why it went up to 11GB to begin with.
