    Crashing

Hello, ever since i started playing Company of Heroes: Gold Edition i have been suffering from inconsistent lock ups/crashes. My game will (randomly) freeze and the last played sound will loop until i alt+tab and end the process through task manager. I can not replicate or reproduce a crash, there are no similarities in events when the crash occurs. I would say i crash every 1/3 games, perhaps more frequently.

I have tried Multiple graphics drivers, (Most recent and older) to fix this problem, but the crashes still occur.
I have changed my Sound hardware acceleration from full to standard to basic and still crash.
I have reinstalled the game (Multiple times).
I have tried turning sound off in game (But you cant actually disable sound so i just turned it all the way to 0, not sure if this would've even done anything).
I have tried running the game on lowest settings.
I have tried running the game with almost no other processes running in the back ground (ESET NOD32 Antivirus, i thought this may have been conflicting).

    Any assistance would be appreciated.

The first thing to try is to install SP3 for Windows XP. You should be able to get it from the Microsoft Download Centre.

I don't think upgrading to SP3 will fix this problem and id rather that be a last resort, any other suggestions? I can play any other game for hours with absolutely no problem... more Graphic/CPU/Memory intensive games with not a single problem.

Installing Windows Service Packs should always be the first resort when troubleshooting problems. Microsoft release the updates because they solve most problems.

    Also:

If you have tried all these things without updating Windows, it looks like you are at your last resort.
