Well I'm sorry you dislike the show DeafMute it certainly isn't quite as good as the comic but I think your being slightly harsh.
However, I did dislike how they'll dealt with the Rick putting down his stars and taking off the police uniform. In the comic it was quite a poignant moment as Rick realised he had to let go of many of his old ideals and relics from the pre zombie world. While this episode didn't exactly play it for laughs it was very quick and immediately overshadowed by the pregnancy reveal.

    Much better episode.
Mainly cause it focused on darly lol.

Knew there was zombies in the barn. And so were in the hell is the missing girl? Has to be with another group of survivors.

@Bman3k - according to the comics, infected members and strays, kept there because they're 'still' people.

Wow, the opening scene was awesome. MOAR LIKE THAT

Daryl is the absolute personification of badassery. Aron Ralston got nothing on him.

Rest of the episode was meh except for, of course, the ending, which they seem to save the best parts for.

just checked imdb and there is only 2 more episodes before a 3 month break kicks in and the show continues in feb 2012.

Hope these last 2 episodes have something good about them because so far its been very boring.

Wow. Just wow. First season Lori is the bitch. Second season Andrea is the unlikeable one. How the hell can you turn one of the most badass person from the comic into an unlikeable bitch of epic proportions? It's as if the creators want to have one female that everyone wish dead.

    Old family members or something?
Doubt it, there seemed to be quite a few of them

There was at least one kid zombie in there, so there's gotta be a family member or two. Herschel's flat refusal to believe Rick about the CDC no longer seems rhetorical and instead looks like actual delusion, which would probably be predicated on someone he loved ending up as a zombie.

Can't watch the new episode until my new TV arrives. It's recorded on my DVR, but I can't do anything with it. Unless I want to repurpose a computer monitor I guess... But seems pointless as the TV is supposed to arrive today.

Good show. Im looking forward to season 5.

    Season 3.

I just discovered the show a few days back while browsing Netflix for something to watch while the TV was down. I noticed they finally had Howl's Moving Castle on instant view, so I watched that, and then thought, "Eh, I might as well take a chance on this TV show I have in my instant queue, nothing else to do..."

I watched the entirety of season 1 that night, and have been watching the rest a few episodes at a time since. But Netflix only has it through season 3. I'll have to look elsewhere for the rest.

I'd honestly say it's the best TV series I've ever seen, even when including premium channel shows in that comparison. Edges out Firefly and Weeds and Dexter ever so slightly.

Breaking Bad is excellent, and it is one of two shows I've watched where every season is better than the previous season. I wasn't sure if any of you dolts watched it, we'll need a thread for discussing it when season 5 comes around.

As for this episode of Walking Dead, Daryl is awesome as usual. Next episode has potential to finally bring some steam into the show. I thought the girl was going to push Glenn in to the zombie pit to cover for her father. You have to be a pretty sick fuck to keep zombies locked up on your property. I'm hoping they break out and all hell breaks loose.

I finally got to watch this yesterday evening (Along with the latest episodes of American Guns, The Next Iron Chef, and Hell On Wheels, which I'm still forming my opinion of). Daryl is fucking hillbilly Rambo. Jesus. When he started to pull the bolt through, I was like "No! Break it off and pull it through from the back you fool!" and then I realized he was deliberately pulling the fletching through the wound in order to keep the bolt intact and shoot it at the next zombie. At which point I was just O.O faced.

EDIT: I don't get why you guys are hating on Andrea, she seems quite reasonable to me lately.

You call firing at a very distant target (looked like 200+yds) surrounded by friendly people when you don't have a clue about firearms or a positive identification "reasonable"?

She was mildly bitchy but I gave her a pass on that because, well, she did want to die until she got conned out of it. That would make anyone bitchy. But this latest thing was just flat out stupid and dangerous. I was expecting her to hit one of the other people, or just get lucky and miss entirely.

  21. #121
Well, in their situation it wouldn't have been unreasonable to just waste him without even sending anyone out there. If it weren't for the fact that they were trying to keep noise down they would have done just that. Not a single one of them ever considered that it might not be a zombie, if you'll notice. The others could just as easily have done exactly what she did if they hadn't decided to go melee him to death for entirely different coincidental reasons. She was just eager to do something useful, it wasn't horrible, just a simple accident.

And I don't even see how she was being a bitch previously. If I'd been in her position and someone had taken my gun away, I'd have beat the shit out of them. Dunno how you could expect her to just be ok with that. She has very legitimate beefs with Dale.

Because she was playing the whole "I want to kill myself" routine but deep down inside her she wanted to live, so while she said she was mad at dale a part of her was actually glad Dale took the gun away.

Dale rules, he's second to Daryl. Never bitches and is always good for the emotional support.

I would have pardoned she shooting Daryl if everyone hadn't been screaming "NOOOO" at her like 10 gazillion times. It was an ego thing.

Before you know it walkers are going to be crawling that place. It was too stupid for words. Seriously. Recall first episode? Mr Rick the Naive fires off a shot and suddenly there's a horde of zombies at the black dude with the kid's porch.

In my previous posts I've already said my dissatisfaction with the show's portrayal of Andrea and this episode really got me frustrated. Why are they turning one of the comics most badass and likeable characters into an unstable belligerent moron? I don't mind the show not using some of the characters from the comic if they don't want to (Tyreese, Allen, Donna, ect) or introducing new original characters like the awesome that is Daryl. But using characters from the comic and then portraying them completely differently, especially in a way that makes even people who haven't read the comics hate said character, annoying.

Yes Shane is a little bit different in this than his comic counterpart but rather than being a completely different character I think they have taken the comic character and expanded on it. I think they've done well with him and he's one of the characters I've been most interested in. I enjoyed the dialogue between him and Rick while they were out on the woods. Dialogue can be hard to do right and can often be clunky or unnatural but these new writers seem to be pretty good

Nice reveal with the barn, despite already knowing what was in there I felt trepidation as Glenn just strolled in ignorant of the danger. I think that kind of reveal works better in a TV show than the comic version of the reveal which was

Shame to hear there's only two more episodes left before a break, but they might be able to end it with something spectacular

She twitches at the wrong moment, uses the scope wrong or hell even just happens to have a flyer in the chamber and she'd have shot one of them. From where she was she had to shoot directly over Rick and Shane which makes that an insanely dangerous and stupid shot even by zombie apocalypse firearm safety standards. On top of that, everyone who ran over there, rather than beating on the walker, is just standing around. The "walker" is too, which is not walker behavior. On top of that, everyone is yelling at her not to do it since it was not a necessary shot and randomly firing high power rifles risks drawing more zombies.

In my eyes she just qualified at the nine year old idiot level in terms of personal responsibility around firearms. She just violated every rule of firearm safety and several of common sense. Before this, I saw her as justifiably pissy about everyone else trying to act like she was a child, but then she went and acted like a child. She better have her gun privileges revoked for a while.

Dale sure looks like some sort of deductive genius after this episode. The slightest look and KNOWLEDGE

This episode was entirely too boring. I mean they don't need to have crazy action every episode, but eh. I mean the Walkers in the barn subplot doesn't need to drag on like this, but then I guess they need something for their big mid-season finale. Which will probably end with the walkers bursting out of the barn so we have a nice months long wait to see what happens next.

Without Daryl this show really drags. Dale can half carry the load by being cool, but the whole Shane/Andrea thing just sort of falls flat.

  26. #126
I hate the fact that they're talking about "mid-season finale!". I mean, seriously? You guys really want to make the whole "Yeah, we don't bother to put any new episodes of anything on tv until february, tough luck" bullshit you've been pulling on us for the last 5-10 years into an event to brag about? Seriously?

Not kidding, I heard those words and I wanted to go find a network executive and beat them to death.

    Fact of the matter is.
There is just too many good tv shows and if this one carries on under performing. I wont even bother wasting my time with it anymore.

    Anyone else agree?

    This episode wasn't that good.

I wouldn't mind the slower pace if the season were a full fledged 24 ep season. But, considering the fact that we're talking about a smaller 13 ep season (which is great, less time wasted :P), the writers needed to pick up the pace. 6 episodes into season 2 and there haven't been a lot of major plot developments. They are still at the barn.

Also: To survive a Zombie Apocalypse you need to be shrewd. This group has displayed some unbelievable moments of stupidity. I already talked about how stupid the well scene was. Andrea got the award last episode. This time around? Lori. Durr-hurr, these say morning after pills, but maybe if I take a bunch of them together they will be come month after pills! Never mind the fact that overdosing on these pills could damage myself and/or the baby!

  29. #129
Yeah, Lori still has her non-sensical stupidity from the first season, not to mention she looks like a pissy bitch all the time, with Andrea joining the club. In the comics, the group does some amazing stunts later on, and become incredibly well-adjusted. They weren't like that at the beginning, so we can only hope and wait to see what the directors will think of.

Oh, and the Andrea shooting Daryl part - yeah, she was also being slightly blinded by the Sun AFAIK, all the more reason not to shoot a sniper rifle into a group of friendles.

Ive a feeling that when things kick off next episode maggie will leave with glenn or glenn will stay at the farm.
Something big has to happen for this last episode.

Did enjoy the shane and andrea part and LoL'D hard when Dale confronted Shane. Telling him to GTFO only for shane to show how dark he can be.

    Shane & Darly are badasses.

And Rick is Beta as fuck for being so calm with what happend between his wife and best friend. The same best friend who considered him a brother.
My prediction for the next episode will have a barn zombie showdown. Rick and hershels views majorly clasing and ricks team moving towards fort benning but will come across the prison.

Also concerning andrea, dale and shane.
    Compare shane and dale.
Dales the older wiser type whos always there to talk. That shoulder to cry on.
    beta.
Shanes alpha, that fire in his heart. darkness to his character. Its obvious why andrea is drawn to him but still needs dale for that emotional comfort.

    roflmao:
You have to have a tolerance for stupidity in characters because otherwise they'd all be like Abed from Community (remember Abed's part in the episode where they're all imagining a story about a serial killer?). If everyone acted perfectly rationally and never once made a mistake, there probably wouldn't have been a zombie apocalypse. So people are stupid, they do stupid things and suffer the consequences.

The well scene wasn't quite as bad as you make out. They basically acknowledged what they were doing was stupid after TDawg wrenched the zombie's face into a pulp and Dale was clearly aware that the water shouldn't be drunk anyway when he knocked the ladle out of TDawgs hand. I mean it's not like you have to act perfectly rationally around wells to survive a month of the zombie apocalypse.

Andrea and Shane wandering around the housing development seems like more of a problem to me, since if you just walk away from your car in the zombie apocalypse, you're putting yourself hugely at risk. I would have expected them to drive slowly down the street calling for Sophia, ready to jet out of there at the first sign of a zombie herd.

Welp, I don't know about the rest of you but this show seems to be going downhill pretty quickly. I'm getting really tired of the shitty melodramatic emo dialog thrown in a constant basis to remind us of how terrible and hopeless the world they're in is, and I'm even more tired of how illogical and senseless Andrea and Lori are towards the other characters of the show. They're even writing the farmers daughter the same way apparently, it's like they want me to hate all the female characters in the show.

I also hate how nearly every bit of dialogue is spoken in this weird half voice approaching a whisper, can these motherfuckers please project a little more?

Oh and not to get nitpicky or anything, but I thought the show was called Walking Dead, as in Zombies and stuffs, why the fuck do I feel like I'm watching a sitcom?

  37. #137
I think it's meant to be more of an emotional drama than an action piece. So if you're looking for action/horror, yeah, you might want to look elsewhere.

Also, I think "The Walking Dead" is meant to be a double entendre... We're being asked who the walking dead are, the zombies, or the survivors.

Well I liked the scene with Lori and the morning after pills. I thought the desperation and irrational behaviour wasn't out of place. She is under immense stress. I actually thought she would take the other pills straight after just for added insanity. I'm actually unsure why there is this hate for her, can somebody explain what she has actually done that has annoyed people so?

Andrea is interesting this episode, its great to finally see her starting to become the bad ass she is in the comics but that thing with Shane was ridiculous. Then again random sex is actually a pretty common thing in Kirkman's comic so I guess they were just being faithful...

I also hate how nearly every bit of dialogue is spoken in this weird half voice approaching a whisper, can these motherfuckers please project a little more?
Yes, they should all speak like Brian Blessed. The show would be bettered immeasurably.

The lack of zombies isn't a problem they've still featured in every episode of this show which is more than I can say of many of the comic issues and they were still very interesting to read. The greatest zombie film of all time George Romero's Dawn of the Dead (1978) featured many scenes without any real zombie action, instead focusing on character interaction and on how they tried to adapt to the new world around them and specifically to living trapped in a mall.

  41. #141
I actually liked the last episode's combination of drama, though Andrea and Shane getting off on killing stuff was a bit creepy. I'm looking forward to see whats going to happen between Shane and Dale, and is it me or has the black guy like not said anything for like 3 episodes.

Also, I disagree that the show is getting so downhill. Maybe not that good as season 1, but it's still nice to watch.

I don't find Shane and Andrea getting it on after the zombie killing session to be weird or creepy at all. Nothing turns me on more than a badass chick killing everything that moves. As far as I'm concerned they had the best first date a man could ask for: zombie killing with some sweet lovin' afterwards.

Well I think it is safe to say the series has now nearly completely diverged from the comics.

Yes, I think that was the intention from pretty early on though, so I'm not annoyed like I am when GoT diverges from the books. It keeps even the readers of the comic guessing, which is a good thing I think.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Well, he did technically do the right thing. The whole confrontation with Dale after Carl had to push Shane over the edge made me think that he might just get all the guns and kill Herschel and his people so they could take the farm themselves.

And the Sophia plotline ends with justice done to it. I wonder how long she was dead for as she looks in better condition than the other Walkers, though I know that isn't saying much.

The thing with Sophia being in the barn is this:

    1) Herschel knows they're looking for a young girl who ran off just before they showed up.
    2) For Sophia to end up where she did requires her to have been brought in by Herschel or his people.
    3) Herschel did not tell them that he brought in a young girl walker right about the time they showed up.

So he lets them wander all over the place looking without saying, "Oh hey yeah." Protect the secret of the barn? Idiocy? Plot hole? Hard to say. Hopefully they address thiis later on because it's a pretty big hole. Sophia must have been walkerized pretty much right away and unless they've been sneaking walkers in to the barn without the group noticing, she would have had to been captured in a very narrow window of time, ie right before Rick shows up with Carl. And if they DID sneak her in, then that's a completely deliberate lie/obfuscation on the part of Herschel, not just "oh we forgot about that one that exactly matches your description of the girl you're looking for."

If Shane was pissed before, he's going to be really pissed now that they nearly got Daryl killed looking for a zombie that was sitting in that barn the whole time.
