Provided you have a personal standing of at least 0.0 to the faction of your choice, you can join the NPC FW corp instantly. Faling that, you can either grind up your standings with them via missions etc, or apply to join a player run corp that is already enlisted in FW.

Cheers, it'll be a brand new alt so he should be fine. Soon as he's basically trained I'll get him out and shot at. Only ever been in Minmatar space twice since I started anyway, so it'll be a nice change of scenery.

  3. #303
I'm still carebearing with my main, but I took one of those power of two promotions at the start of the month to make a station trader. He's coming to the end of his current skill plan, so I'm thinking of finally getting some PvP on with a Minnie FW alt and a lot of carebear financed Rifters. How easy is it to get started in FW? Do I have to join a corp or can I just sign up, head out and explode?

Anyway, the Winmatar FW corp that a friend and I co-run (Rifterlings) is always recruiting if you're interested. We're open to people with little PVP experience and provide free t1 frigs/destroyers + fittings in lowsec base.

..Also, it's seriously not hard to support yourself in lowsec. I don't know why you'd bother making a separate character for it. Hell, you could just use a jump clone if you wanted easy, fast access back to hisec. Making a separate character is a waste of SP.

  4. #304
It's a second account mate, I've trained up a hauler and my station trader is finishing up in a couple of weeks, so after that I might as well use the account for a proper PvP focused alt. Thanks for the corp offer, that sounds a lot more fun than tooling around on my own getting shot at, when my station trader is done and I've got this guy up and running I'll get in touch.

  5. #305
But you -already- have a character with combat skills trained. There's little point in having another one. I'd use the skill training for some other utility purpose (leadership skills? Orca? Covert ops/Probing?)

  6. #306
I see what you mean, I've got quite a bit of SP in missiles and gunnery and I've got Minmatar frigates, cruisers and battleship to 4. I'll be in touch next week then, I'm off out this weekend and I'd better shift all of my stuff out of Amarr space before I start shooting at them. Thanks again.

  7. #307
No problem, though I will caution that most of us are US TZ with a few EU TZ.

We have a public channel, We Fly Rifters. Look for Kahega Amielden (me) or Petrus Blackshell (Other guy who runs it, my RL friend), and we generally advertise our fleets in that channel for any militia who want to join (this applies to any of the rest of y'all in the Winmatar or Gallente militias).

  8. #308
Stuff shifted out of Amarr space I've sent DS an Eve mail, then headed north and got myself a Rifter, which I promptly buffer fit and then joined the Minnie militia. Eager for my first taste of lowsec I headed for the dangerous areas of the map to find... no bugger at all. Roamed about a bit, then realised you can see contested systems and set course for one near Gallente space, just in case I got podded.

Cruised out to the system, found a minor plex and set about it. Soon realised that a buffer fit against a swarm of pve ships was a bad idea and by the time they were all toast I was hull tanking like a real man. Still, managed to capture the plex and loot about half the tags before an Amarr militia member entered the system and D-scan picked up a Rifter, presumably heading my way. With no armour, half shield and half hull I decided that discretion was the better part of valour and scarpered back to Gallente high sec.

No PvP yet, but damn good fun nonetheless.

    *edit*

    First solo kill: http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboar...hp?id=16722338

Yes, I killed a T2 fit Thrasher in a T1 fit Rifter. He even shot back, so he wasn't AFK. I just webbed and scrammed him, then got under his guns and shot the hell out of him. Don't think I've had such excitement from a game before.

well, i totally hate null sec. too much a nomadic lifestyle. I prefer carebearing in an ice field with my feet up and doing chores and stuff around my apartment.
    http://dl.eve-files.com/media/corp/M...-ice-index.jpg
all things being equal, ice mining gear is 33.3% as effective as ore mining gear, so the way i figure is that after the inefficiency of asteroids popping, barge moving, partial loads for a full cycle and finding ore fields depleted upon arrival (or picked clean of the good stuff)...after all that, i figure that ice mining is equivalent to mining veldspar (in profit ratios)

and currently i'm making half a billion isk per day

Do we have a corp here on Relicnews? Needs some peeps that can give me some motivation to move out of my hangar
The PC will never get back to its true potential, because all the games are now cross platform and all this cross platform games get "consolfied"

I don't think there is a relic corp at the moment. Join the channel fcuk in-game, I see several RN people hanging around there depending on what timezone it is.

    Same here.
Almost everybody has their respective tie to a corp as it is a big thing in Eve - including me.

Should be fine to have alt chars join, dunno, FW or the Red vs Blue war ;D.

There was a RN corp a couple years ago run by gulliman or someone. Whoever it was gave me a osprey and 12million ISK. It's a shame i had to quit due to computer and internet issues.

Wasn't run by me, that's for sure. I think it was Nukem as well.

I've stopped playing since a while ago now. I'm sure my tower is going to run out of fuel soon (been keeping it fueled for no reason past 2 months), cba any more. I'm sure it'll get wardecced and raided. Hehe. I should have around 25b now incase I decide to return. Gotta sort real life first. Going to venture in the unknown 0.0 called living alone in my own place!

    Condolences RE: BLM.

Hai Bonnet! You're in PL, so yes we are blue. Though how long that'll last

I have to say, leading a corp and shaping it is the best experience I've got out of the game thus far. Thoroughly enjoying myself

You do much Bonnet and Rukoth?

Pfft, being blue to PL is like a fish being in a alliance with a Shark till it decides to get hungry and eat you. What info can you give about Sniggerdly? They seem pretty strong, always have been, i don't know their history very well though. Im not asking for anything sensitive (obviously) :P but like, why is Sniggerdly so solid? Just curious. They seem to be the backbone of PL.

And I used to do alot, my corp that I made is still around from 2008 and its changed quite a bit but still has a core of original members. Im no longer the CEO but am still basically a 2nd in command of it. And yeah, running and shaping a corp is a awsome experience. I bet to bonnet though sometimes being in leadership in a large corp like Sniggerdly or in a alliance like PL can seem like work more then fun sometimes. Maybe im wrong, its how I would perceive it looking in though.

Solid leadership and a good culture. Competency and hardwork begets competency and hard work. We don't baby our people, and we give power to the people who step up. People who fuck up, or people who are lazy don't get any power. We have no "declared" fc's. If you want to fc you lead a fleet, this means there is no whining about anything on that front.

We also focus on having fun. It is a game, having "blues" out of loyalty is pointless. PL's operations usually end when people stop showing up because they are bored. We than move onto other things. It is essentially why we are nomadic, and why you get the "shark" impression from us. Its not really out of a lack of loyalty, we just prefer to shoot people over not shooting people.

The other big bit is essentially no politics. We shout at each other until the problem is resolved, or Shamis tells us to shut the fuck up and follow his lead. So many leaders make the mistake of waffling between there advisers trying to satisfy all involved parties. That is a huge mistake. One of my fav shamis quotes:

That said its not a place for newbies to the game. So many alliances simply can not function in the same manner. v0v

Yes I was running Relic Defense Initiative way back in the day but since there's basically nobody on these forums that actually needs a corp its basically just in hibernation.

Tired of the corp running business long ago. Being space powerful and space famous only makes you a target and causes ridiculous amounts of stress. Its much better to simply be butt buddies with the space powerful.

or give them the finger and kill them too. as we used to do..

and sometimes for a bonus one of the other powerful groups would pay us to do it. amazing the amount of money people had even back in those days to throw at group no more than two dozen guys to shoot uberalliances..

u can make big friends that way too, if u do a decent job i say big but that never really concerned us. think rich and helpful for intermittent corp hibernations would b more accurate lol + extra fun if some of our merry band of badboys ganged up to give some or other particular group some fun for an evening/day/week

GNE is also part of PL and you sincerely would not believe the amount of money people pay us to kill things for them. Also missed the -a- super kills by about an hour getting home from work. ;(

ya bowkers that was the derpiest move i've seen -A- do to date. Why hotdrop on PL and Test of all people? with only supercarriers? They think PL's titan pilots were asleep or something?

Also, sometime in the future Bonnet, would you (or you bowkers) be interested in two supercap kills up here in venal? Theres two rather annoying ones that keep popping our POCO's.....

  46. #346
It wasn't even a hotdrop, they just warped over as if it was a solid plan and not throwing their ships away.

They did have a tengu fleet, but I agree it was silly. And according to some PL members that was the most they'd got in fleet for a long time.

  48. #348
So, I led a 3-man t1 frigate roam into Providence (initially Atron, Condor, Slasher, then Atron, Condor, Rifter after one person dropped and another joined) for about an hour and a half the other day. Nearly killed a vaga (was ASB fit, slowboated back to gate and must have been very low on boosters) and a hurricane (was in structure when his support came in)...and we ~did~ kill an untanked Eris (+ pod) and a terrible Dramiel (+ pod). In t1 frigates.

Since Amarr v Minmatar FW is dead, my corp and I will be relocating to Derelik , giving us easy access to these flying piƱatas.

You guys heard about the whole FA heist thing if you have been reading Themittani website right? What do you guys think of that whole thing? I personally don't like FA's leadership, I can see why this happened and also why FA acted the way they did afterwords. Very immaturely and threats IRL? Seriously?
