Tanks vs garison

    Tanks vs garison

Is there a reason that my predator tank does no damage to units that are garrisoned? I mean why would I expect a tank to blast the hell out of units stationary in a building.

Do all the tanks do no damage vs garrisoned units?

Topjimmy, meet game balance, game balance, meet topjimmy.

Sorry, Tanks don't counter garrisons, because garrisons are one of the only ways to keep your infantry based AV from being over run by tanks.

Dreads beat the shit out of units in buildings. What protects your av from getting stomped by them?

I can understand a smaller amount of damage, but taking NO damage at all from a tank while in a building is just ludicrous.

The pred's main autocannon has 30% accuracy and full damage to garrisoned units. The sponson heavy bolters have 60% accuracy and do 30% damage. That's less, not none.

Conversely, a tac marine squad would have been doing triple damage to the garrisoned units with a Flamer, and the Flamer can hit every single unit in the garrison at once.

Dreads and the like do AOE splash damage. Tanks do not. And when you target a building I want to say that is what you are attacking.

With melee attacks. Tanks don't need to drive in and swing their cannon at the building...

Well the last game I played I had a pred tank that blasted a chaos noise marine squad , they were upgraded to a blaster master , I hit them before they garrisoned and killed one member, I kept attacking them with the full health pred. They killed it, and did not loose another man.

Now I get that I should not have a pred running around unsupported, but I wanted to kill that damn squad.

BM Noise Marines do AV damage to stationary units. You would probably win, provided you put as much effort in as running the tank back and forth so it wouldn't be hit by Blastmaster.

That would require some funny animations...

Now that I think about it, Angry Marines tanks probably do that.

I was busy fighting another battle at the time so could not micro the tank. I did have it as close to the building as I could , thinking there was possibly a min range for the BM in the building. Ahh well, Lesson learned.

    Thanks for the replies.

Actually, i found out that the leman russ unupraged to anything does ok damage to most none av infantry in buildings. I mean you can't just sit there and weather a attack from a tank long, for a smig of awhile yeah but not long at all.
