Colour Schemes: Tactical Advantage?

    Colour Schemes: Tactical Advantage?

First off, hello there chaps and chapesses. Not posted here in a while. Now, to my point...

Does anyone else here think the colour scheme of your marines makes a difference? For instance, my Chaos design is garish and bright, all reds and lime greens, but my Space Marine is mostly black or dull gold. I seem to get a lot more kills with my Space Marine, mostly due to the surprise wlement of getting off the first shot.

So, what do you guys think? Does a more camoflaged colour sheme help boost kills, or is it just the fervour of the Emperor inspiring me? Will I ever spell camoflage or fervour correctly? Your thoughts, please.

Even the Dark Eldar who multiply like vermin don't do that, because open warfare means casualties, and casualties means that you're going to be eaten by a cosmic transexual.

Not in my experience. I die just as often as a Rainbow Marine as I do my chrome and dark red Chaos Marine.

Agreed, but I can see how using certain schemes and environmental objects / lighting might help camouflage a player's movements to allow them to get close enough for a kill or sneak up on a control point unobserved. That said, I don't have a problem with it at all - in fact I applaud and respect it.

It would, if it weren't for goddamned Signum Link telling the goddamned Devastators where you are at all times.

Painted my CSM like a Ultramarine, worked for a while.

I'm starting to notice that more and more.

this is especially deadly vs stalkers or lasdevs, especially when there's smoke, explosions or heat partially obscuring vision.

Been running around in black legion and Raven Guard schemes instead of Word Bearers and Doom Eagles and I've noticed that I take fewer hits early on and don't get noticed early as often in darker maps. I think that certain schemes do seem to have an advantage.

Not sure about camo value but i know i personally like to target chumps with nauseatingly garish schemes just to ease my retinal itching.

Well the new legion of the damned skin is so obvious in game i find my sites aim first to him/her if in a crowd and any player in bright red seems a lot easier to pick out hence why i stopped playing as blood angels as i felt like an ammo magnet during play.
When using pre heresy world eaters colours a lot of enemy seem to think im on there side for a split second giving me enough time to...BLAM!

When you're too far away to see the enemy's red name thing I'm sure it's advantage, but that's a price I am willing to pay for having the nice aesthetics. What troubles me though is that I have a hard time separating enemies from friends due the mixing of colors, but again I accept it.
The comparisation of Starcraft 1 and 2 stories is like the starwars prequels compared to the first 3 movies.

I think the space marines / csm's are too loud, bulky and cumbersome for environmental camo to help all that much.
