You just have to be VERY careful what server you use as they could technically steal your user info from Origin.

People would actually risk that to play the game a few days in advance? Wow.

EDIT: Though if anyone has success with this method and knows a safe VPN around...

If I were you, before connecting I'd change my EA password to something simple and then put something nice and complicated in it when I change it back.

The highly recommended VPN (especially for BF3) is FlyVPN.com. I imagine they dont mind as its good business for them to have their name thrown around.

The main reason I'm doing it is because I'm busy at the weekend - getting some hours in during the week will be very good for me! I get monday, tuesday, wednesday, thursday to play then, and the hours during the night
You should check out Priority Vox Channel Secundus, a blog!

I would also recommend changing your email password afterwards, just in case.

Wouldn't they only have a chance of getting your e-mail password if you opened your e-mail while connected to the VPN? From what I can make out it's just connect>open Origin (hence the Origin pw change)>run ME3>disconnect.

Your origin login is your email address. That will be transmitted through the VPN.

It's unlikely but I've had my email account hijacked through similar means (they must have brute forced the password.)

Well that is not smart. My email address password is different from my Origin password. As such all they would get is my Origin password which I plan to change after doing it ^^.

You could always bypass all that risk by just waiting the extra 2/3 days. Patience people!

    I made a game! :D Clicky!

I found a place in Finland that's having their 1 year anniversary so you can grab ANY game (including Mass Effect 3 Deluxe Digital) for -50%. 39€ isn't too bad for it, I can already feel my resistance crumbling...

Like I said previously, I desire an early unlock because the weekend is bad for me. I leave it another week and the internet is full of spoilers and douche-bags.

I believe you can circumvent the risk by logging into origin BEFORE running the VPN - at that point, you run ME3 and it should route through the VPN for the check, and all your personal information will be safe (as the check won't send any of it over, it will just do I time check and get an decryption key).

That means that actually, this process should be very safe. I'll let you know when I am hacked.

  11. #261
Here's hoping you don't get hacked.

You have to be fast switching the VPN/Proxy off, ME3 starts up and then immediately logs into your EA account automatically. Presumably with details provided to it by Origin.

FlyVPN failed me. I used a proxy somebody on bioware social recommended, and it worked perfectly. Hopefully, nothing has been lost.

Use a paid service, I've a yearly package that costs £30 for just this reason.

I'm not surprised. Anything within three feet of you seems to end up full of knife shaped holes.

Hmm so does anyone know where you would need to put a DLed save file to access it when creating a new game? I never played ME on the PC before and found one that was very similar to mine from Xbox. But its not finding it under new game xD

The directory for ME2 saves is:

    *My Documents*\BioWare\Mass Effect 2\Save\CareerName_##_Class_######\SaveFileHere.pcsave

Where ## is the code for the character's background (Eartborn/Ruthless is 33, for example), and ###### is a random unique ID code for the save profile.

The folder for ME1 imports is:

    *My Documents*\BioWare\Mass Effect 2\Save\ME1\SaveFile.MassEffectSave

If you put the files in the normal ME2 save directory, I can imagine it not working properly, but I'd guess ME3 probably has an import structure similar to ME2. If you place the save files in Bioware\Mass Effect 3\Save\ME2\SaveFile.pcsav you should hopefully be good to go. Not sure, though - will know more when my game unlocks in ten hours or so. Need to go to work now, and then finish my ME2 playthrough (just have the Reaper IFF, Legion's loyalty mission, the suicide mission, and two of the DLCs to finish before I'll actually be ready; I should be able to complete all, or at least most, of that after I get home from work).

Found a nice and secure VPN-thingie via a friend so my Mass Effect 3 Digital Deluxe edition is activated and at 72% with 55 minutes to go. Why the fuck do I have to go to work tomorrow?

I don't have to. Let me play :P

If someone makes it, it might be worth it to split into story/singleplayer and multiplayer threads.

Yeah, I'd appreciate not having to risk spoilers just to talk about how I still don't have a Krogan unlocked.

Sweet Thanks Langy. I just had to create those folders to get it to show up Now time to see if it actually works/ anything was actually carried over from it xD

Also i had a nice conversation with an EB Games rep who called me about picking up my X360 copy i had no intention to still pick up. Needless to say he didnt understand that i could have the game preloaded on my computer and was telling me how i had an illegal copy of the game and how he was upset that i had not told them earlier about cancelling my preorder// that i had decided to even cancel it (My favorite part about this is that it isnt the first time ive had one of there employees get mad at me for cancelling my preorder and had them vocalize their disapproval of it) Oh how i love EB games xD

Edit; Ive also been listening to the soundtrack as ive been finishing up my studying for the night, and man is it ever epic too. Also the art book that comes with the CE is kinda disappointing after getting the bigger one :S Its all the same stuff just smaller and much less of it xD

So I sat down with it for fifteen minures in the evening, and apparently it's now 3AM over here. Huh.

LoneWolf, that's what happened to me when I tried out ME for the first time last week. Good to see nothing's changed.

Since the game's releasing now, would someone care to create the ME3 threads (make sure to mention spoiler tags in the singleplayer one)? I'll lock this after that's done. I would but I won't have access to the game for a few days yet.
