Looks quite nice indeed, though it is so unfortunate Relic's Hellcat chassis is kinda low quality, especially as the wheels should be 3d (Though, the Pershing one are flat too, but the nrm helps quite nice. Anyway, nice model, thanks for sharing guys!

p.s. Why don't you make 1 single thread?

Does it have an M2HB gunner on top with an animated hatch? Looks good, though! I like how it uses the M18 Hellcat.

No, but you're free to modify and re-release it. It does use Hellcat tracks but the whole thing is downsized and scaled like it should be, not massive like the coh hellcat.

I know it's been scaled. I was planning on doing the same thing, but time got the best of me. Tankdestroyer did a fine job! It does have an animated hatch, btw, so that's cool.

its a nice idea to downsize it to real values, but IMHO it doesnt fit well into the oversized CoH world. Which is a pity.
Nice model, nice textures.. but out of place.
I know the chaffee wasnt that big, but it looks like a toy tank in comparison.

I agree, it is far too small now. Yes, the Hellcat is maybe a little bigger than it should be, but look at the dimensions:

    Length: 5.03m (Chaffee); 6.27m (Sherman)
    Width: 3m (Chaffee); 2.67m (Sherman)
    Height: 2.77m (Chaffee); 2.94m (Sherman)

As you can see, they are actually not that much different in size. Here is a good comparison picture as well, between a Hellcat and a Sherman:

Bah, it may appear smaller, but it's in the game, that's all that really matters at this point.

Agreed, I can't do anything about it being so small , you'd need to kindly ask TD or anyone else who can to upsize it.

Nah, it's fine. Scale in COH is a big Charlie Foxtrot, anyways. It'd be a fool's errand to make everything to scale with each other. :P

The main problem is the sherman being horribly oversized, even compared to other vehicles. it was rather big, but not Tiger big.

The main problem is, almost all units are terribly oversized, even the Tiger I.
@Eli: I see that differently, of course all models should be compared to one another.
    Size does matter.
now the ( also ridiculously oversized) hellcat looks almost twice as big as its brother, the Chaffee...
which is now tetrach size. The King Tiger could eat that poor little guy alive. ^^

Dont get me wrong, dont want to be a prick on this nice model , Relic should be blamed for all that mismeasuring.

  17. #17
oh i love the cute little thing! probably the best light tank during the war right after the stuart
A jagdpanther has a litter of 33 hetzers. 17 hetzers are eaten by at guns. What percentage of hetzers were blown to bits by at guns?

    @Halftrack
Of course size matters, but what I mean is that it would be a ridiculous amount of work to get everything, both Relic and custom, to be the right scale; a fool's errand. Ironically, the M24 is 25% smaller than the M18, so that's how it should be based on Relic's standard of oversizing crewed vehicles by 25%. That is why the Hetzer is smaller than the Marder by 25%.

Depends on the camera angle and distance...you can make just about anything look bigger than it really is

I guess you could say that Relic's made certain things in world War II larger than life in COH

Its nice. But as ive always said... scale should be done to match what we have of relics already, or things start looking out of place. Nevertheless, its an excellant addition and worth the waiting.

yes, i noticed that the projectile file listed in the weapon's projectile table was not included.

For those interested, the Chaffee model is setup for a Tank Commander and Skirts.

    Tank Commander
(use with the add crew action to add the commander, this state just opens the hatch) do_action_state_name - on
    state_machine_name - commander_upgrade

    Skirts
    action_state_name - on
    state_machine_name - skirts

Guys, can anybody help me? I installed this tank, but ingame the textures don't appear, the model is all pink, except for the tracks. I checked the rgd for the texture paths, everything pointed to the M18 Hellcat's folder, but it stayed the same after editing it to the Chaffee's folder and files.

Double check the rgd for typo's etc.

The pink color you'll receive only if the skin file itself can't be found at the given location. The rest is (maybe) ok.

Thanks for your reply. I checked them, everything seems to be correct, but it doesn't work ingame. Can anybody pack it up with the building where the tank is added to and send it to me via PM? Would appreciate it.

    Thanks in advance.

you should really check them again. if the texture is pink, the pathes are wrong. its as simple as that.

Either the path is wrong or the files are missing.

The paths was wrong actually. Thanks for the tips guys, got it working now.

sure.just make a new upgrade, f.e copy and rename the armor upgrade for the greyhound and edit it. use the animator state action for the skirts ( see first post ) and add the new upgrade to your M24 squad.

http://www.mediafire.com/?ojks3jc8vaiickh Updated textures for the Chaffe from Halftrack.

I had to change lots of the skin, especially made new normal and specular maps to make it fit better into CoH.

  42. #42
hey aidas2 sense i cant seem to get a hold of you on xfire. do you think you can edit the hull of the model and increase the high about 10-15% its hull is alittle flat. and the chaffee was kind of a fat bumble bee shaped thing.

you might also wanna raise the belly up a bit about 3-7%. its extremely low. and looks like its dragging its stomach.

im not trying to bash on the model. i think its grate infact.
you even added skirts and commander animations. nice job.

do that though and it should be perfect.

    just trying to help.

also the 2nd skin helps A LOT. good job on that too.

    thanks guys.

Aidas didn't create the model, Tankdestroyer did, didn't you read the thread title?

  44. #44
actually i think the original model was made by aidas2 and some one else.. TD made some edits and did the animating for it.

and it looks like Chopin did the skin.

so yeah.. i read the thread title.
because with out animation a model is useless. and with out a model animation is useless.. and skin just makes every thing look real nice.
    so GOMN

    Far from solving it :P

I made the model, then TD modified the model because he found some incorections and then animated.

That is grand! Excellent model Aidas, great work!
Thanks guys, lots of work went into these.

    More to come!
