Dawn of War II in 2012 ^ what's new ??

Greetings to everyone,

For any fan of Warhammer 40k who respects himself, the "Dawn of War" saga is a must. Recently the addition of the new cooperative mode named "The Last Stand" and the available DLCs in a game already rich in contents are really great ideas (maybe the DLC are sold a bit expensive but it's not the subject today, just a personal remark in passing ^^). Anyway, after searching some hot news about the near future of DoW2, excepted the announcement about a third episode (a great news anyway) scheduled for the end of 2012, I unfortunately found nothing !!! Neither to (c)THQ and even less on the (c)Relic official site !!!

Well, I don't know if usually the staff of Relic frequents this forum (to read how beautiful they are and how we love you ^^), but I would like to know if the development of DoW2 will continue for 2012 or are you in working on the third opus only ?? if yes, what can we expect for the next weeks or months ?? A third extension for DoW2 is planned ?? New DLCs (or updates) will be available soon ?? in short, what's new for 2012 ??

to the DoW2 community : Do not tell me I'm too curious because I already know it ^^

DoW3 hasn't been officially announced, though it's been "pre-announced" several times. Most of the "official" talk about it has later been denied/clarified by Relic. There was mention at one point that Relic was considering whether or not to do another expansion before moving on to DoW3, but as time goes on it's becoming less and less likely that there's one in development.

It's possible that some more paid DLC is coming, and maybe another patch or two. Most likely things are either going to start winding down to make room for DoW3 or there's an expansion announcement coming soon for one last piece of DoW2 before DoW3 is released.

Thank you for your comments. I'm a bit disappointed because in coming here I hoped to receive a response from a Community Manager of Relic, or may be too credulously, a response from a developer. Good or bad (announcing the end of the DoW2 development to favor DoW3) but a response nonetheless. It is pity that Relic does not communicate not more with their players about the future of "Dawn of War" (unfortunately it is a common use today). No schedule and no one knows anything !!! Wait and see ^^

You should post over at the dow2 community forums if you want an official response. Relicnews isn't tied to Relic. That said, I doubt you'll find anything more informative than what Akranadas and Croaxleigh have told you there.

There's rumors of more DLC on the way along with more patches, and bC does communicate with players pretty often. Relic has always announced DLC, patches, and expansions pretty far in advance, and everyone realizes that after 3-4 years and 2 expansions we're at the end of DoW2's cycle. They don't want to announce their next project just yet, and declaring DoW2 dead would just piss off the people who still play (like me). Why bother with fluff announcements?

Considering new achievements have appeared for DoW II it's pretty obvious that we're going to get something new for it. Cross fingers for new Last Stand Hero.

A "Future Achievement" appeared on Steam for Retribution, a few days back. It has a progress bar of 0/30.

What Gorb said, we don't know what it's about, but it's there, most people think it has something to do with a steam game akin to what they did for summer, if that's the case we'll probably get a new hat for the FC or something of the sort.

Maybe the "Future Achievement (0 / 30)" is a temporary name for a future game mode. Anyway it announces another addition and it's a good news ^^

Eh - any update on fixing the Last Stand import bug then? I've come to the conclusion that the Lord General is ... lackluster. I miss my Mekboy and Farseer but don't want to spend weeks re-leveling them. :/

Yeah, that's kinda ridiculous, a unit which only real weakness is melee, now can garrisson to avoid that? Eh, it's Eldar allright...

Does anybody know if the bug where the IG HWT loses it's gunner first, leaving 3 guys with flashlights stood around helplessly, has been fixed? I know it mentions the multiple upgrades bug (which I've still never experienced) but I hope this issue is sorted too.

its a relic patch. they even buff Eldar in CoH patches, and the last space marine patch also buffed Eldar. the dawn of war 3 release day patch will involve an eldar buff. we know and accept this now. XD

And game balance? I think it's seriously borked, maybe not in the sense that some race other than Eldar is just overpowered per se, but in the sense that some matchups are really very favorable for one side.

Considering that there are new Dark Eldar and Necron miniatures, an expansions with these two races wouldn't be a waste of money imho.

This game is slowly dying, less hosts in public, less even (or MU at all) in ranked. It's all very-very sad.
This game needs some fresh injection with new content soon to attract some new (and old) players.

P.S. In SC2 there are only 3 races and I'm not sure there will be more... ever. ppl still playin it and not

I just discovered the game, I'll be playing DoW for a long time. I just wish I picked it up when it first came out so the competition wasn't so brutal lol. That said I look forward to DoW3 in what ever incarnation it takes

Starcraft is a different breed of game, it's an "e-sport" or whatever, which means it'll never die. The number of races doesn't really have anything to do wit it, besides, what other race could you add to Starcraft? Xel'naga? No one knows anything about them. Hybrids? They're not really a full blown race yet. The united earth directorate? If they were done like they were in Brood War there would be no point, and if they were made like Metzen wants they'd be stupidly overpowered compared to the other 3 races.

40k on the other hand, already has a bunch of fleshed out races/factions in it's lore, and they all have huge fan bases, obviously people want to play as their favorite race, hence, people want their favorite races to be added in the game, some want necrons, others want tau, others want dark eldar, so in this case people can get bored since they can't play as their favorite races.
