    The Poor Man's Golden Thingamibobs - V8.0

Relicnews Painting & Modelling Forum Painting Competition Mk. VIII

Now that the Child's Play army build is in the last stages and because there hasn't been one for absolutely yonks - it must be painting competition time again. And so, without further ado -

    Roll Up. Roll Up.

For a limited time only the (sort of) Annual Relic Painting Competition is open for your pleasure and participation. Entry to this most spectacular of spectacles is free, although I have to warn you that a loss of sanity may be the result of your endeavours.

However, the world awaits those who are bold, and I urge you all to cast aside your timidity and enter the most dangerous arena known to the Painting and Modelling Forum denizens. Armed only with a 5/0 brush and pots of paint you will fight to the death against your fellow forumites until only 1 (in each Tier) emerges victorious with the Annual Painting Competition crown.

Just got a model I'm itching to paint. This sounds like the inspiration to get off my bum and go sit somewhere else, painting. I realise the model is currently missing backpack-like bits - they're in the post.

I will post pic later, but I'll be painting Imothek the Stormlord - Lower Tier since i haven't painted in over a year xD

I wish I had time to do this, my Logan Grimnar would make for a fine project to lavish my incredibly average skills over.

Still, I have till February so I may still be able to take part and have some fun

    Good luck guys!

Please forgive the photo detail, black base coat + caravan lighting is not the best recipe.

We need more entrants. Now I know that there are some top notch painters on these here boards; so it would be great if you could get involved.

Quick bump here folks to see if we can generate a little bit more interest.

You've got 10 days to get involved.

Remember, it's 2012 and this could be the last chance you've got to enter a painting competition.

  18. #18
Great idea! I shall get involved in this and get back into my painting after a good 3 year break for uni (where women, beer and the odd exam have stolen away my precious hobby time!). During the last Relic painting comp I did (2007!) my Lower Tier single figure was bumped up to the heady heights of Upper Tier, so I will honour the people’s decision and enter my old mate Ragnar as Upper, though disappointment may ensue!

Ghost_Maker – Single figure - Ragnar Blackmane – Upper Tier

Can i set a place holder for the large model // diorama? (or possibly as a switch to my single model if it doesn't count as a diorama) I want to paint up the 25th Anniversary SM model that's being released at the end of Feb. since it will give me great motivation to do it well, but i wont have it to take a picture of till then (Feb 22 - Mar 1 depending on how fast the shipping is) :P

(this is the model for those who haven't seen it; http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/ca...d=prod1460169a)
It is finecasted though, so it maybe in no shape to paint right away xD (*crosses fingers that they've fixed there process for this model*)

I second Lok being allowed to bring that model in, partly because I just want to see what he does with it. Also, bump for pic added.

Sorted, and thanks for recent small flurry of entrants, it's beginning to look like a competition now.

Only one more day to get your entries in folks.

  40. #40
It's been ages since I posted anything over here (DoW2 release-ish?) but I still lurk and this thread badly needs both more large model entries and more Sisters of Battle. Thus, I toss in an Exorcist to help cleanse all the Enemies of Man:

And I'll leave it to Hammerguard to decide which tier he needs the entry more in

Erhm, right. That would be the time for entries past. Arid has been in touch to say that he's still to post pics. Got his camera knicked out of his hand on Hogmanay; so in the interests of fairness I'm going to leave the entry part of the comp open.
The only stipulation, and this will not be waived, is that anyone interested must post a photo of their unpainted entry before the competition deadline.
    Cheers

Looking good comrade, i like what you have done with the stormbolter i think it looks really nice with where you have added the gold. Only thing i would add is i like to see is lightning effects running through power weapons but thats just me. good job!

well ive started mine i was unsure if we are to post any wip shot or just finals when its done?

Comrade you paint very well, but I'm kinda disapointed by the figurine.. you have these nice colors and blens yet you leave so many ornaments, the cape and tabard the same color? I would love it if you did something to the tabard and cape tbh, but that's up to the eye of the beholder
