I think I need to play the game more, Im still stuck with the starting weps and get my shit slapped by all the vets simply because my wep isnt upto par
Just play as the US all the time :P. The m16 is possibly the best weapon in the game (for assault). AEK gives it some competition(That thing kills so fast), but the good all round rifle is the M16. M16 + RDS/Kobra + HB IS the tryhard weapon of choice

On the AN, it's assaults battle rifle, you DO not want to be rushing in up close and personal, rather hang back and cover your squad mates and never switch it off burst fire mode. Think of each burst as a single shot, the bullets travel so close together it's almost a given that the second shot will hit. Each shot at close range does 25 damage which = a "One" shot head shot. On attachments, HB is a must to keep that damage up over long ranges, personally I prefer the Kobra sight, but any sight you like should work.

The starting weapons are some of the best in the game, especially for the US side. The M16A3 is the best assault rifle and the M4A1 the best engi weapon. You just need to unlock a few attachments for them like a red dot and flash suppressor then you'll be competitive.

Play a bit of the co-op to get the MP7 and M93r and you'll be able to go toe to toe with anyone.

Having the best guns in the game doesn't mean you are going to do well. I can give Dice credit for starting all the new people with the best. It makes it easy to get into the game.

IS the tryhard weapon of choice
More like Winhard if you are the rivaL clan. Deafmute, rivaLXfactor made a series of videos on getting better as a player. It's worth watching if you are tired of getting your shit pushed in every match.

I actually took his advice in these videos and my accuracy went from 11% to 16%. My points per minute is climbing as well so is my K/D.

Rival and his minions are quite disgustingly good. Those videos [Vertigo] linked are good and I'd recommend checking them out. I'd also add checking out Two Powerful with rivalXFactor and Lvlcap quite a fun series they have as well as improving your game.

Actually, just check out both their channels. Lots of good game-play footage.

That looks incredible. I skipped Close Quarters because I wasn't interested in maps of that size, but this is proper Battlefield. Might just be enough to get me to buy Premium.

Close Quarters is actually surprisingly entertaining. The maps are to be frank, not great but they do spice up the battlefield game play a bit; while being more run and gun it does help focus your aim and reaction time a lot better than other maps. I've found myself being better a hitting enemy targets at short to medium ranges after playing the close quarters maps, the guns included with the package are also great additions to the current load out.

Oh dear sweet Jesus on a pony. Do want. And I have reconsidered Spooky on rails. Spooky's are supposed to circle strafe endlessly, seeing as all the guns stick out one side. Piloting that would be boring as all get out, and bad players would completely fubar it. And is the MLRS also new? Though it's range seems a bit short. :-/

Well even though an AC130 is totally badass, having it AI controlled is a bit lame as after a while everyone will know how to take it down effectively and exactly where it will be and go.

I'd rather had DICE adding a two seated Jet Bomber or something, where the Pilot has the Machine Gun for dogfights and the gunner being able to drop stuff like JDAM's, rockets or other bombs, and even perhaps with some kind of laser designation mounted..?

There was one of those in Desert Combat, I agree it would be nice to have one of them in it. I think the AC-130 will be fine in the game, it seems to loop around the map hitting all the control points, and providing you with an effective mobile spawn point. I odn't think shooting it down will be a primary object for enemy jets as much as hitting tanks, heli's and other jets will be.

Or at least allow the A-10 in normal conquest maps.

Those noob guide links help alot, most stuff I knew some I didnt. Like the grenade trick. throwing it into an area were you think someone might be hiding, hear they scream out you know you have the drop on them.

Anyway to improve my piloting skills? Copper and Jet wise, I instant crash them but gunner wise on all vehicles I dominate, really fun. I think my major hurdle in getting slapped before was playing the game on alittle too high settings, knocked it down to medium simply because my processor isnt upto par cause my gfx could handle high/ultra settings.
I mainly play engineer cause AT or AA missles is always needed for conquest which is what I play.

If it's just the handling, you can practice that on empty servers. Caspian probably has the most interesting terrain for low-altitude helicopters. When flying jets with M+KB it's very handy/necessary to have a button mapped to pitch up.

    OMFG artillery

Why haven't I seen this before

This is going to be fun. Using my superior perception skills I'm going to own the living shit out of anything that moves. Used to be a master in Desert Combat with Artillery. Could hit AIRCRAFT with them.

First impressions- Alborz Mountains Rush Attacker- Beautiful map, fun as attackers, best "this is how Battlefield should be" feeling attacking objectives with shit asploding everywhere

Bandar Desert- Rush Defender- Kharg Island essentially with an AC-130 ruining your fucking day, it's not hard to take down but it's back up as soon as you do

Wow I originally uninstalled BF3 for a bit but after watching the armored kill trailer I will need to reinstall.
It's Warhammer. Fuck common sense, the universe is built on awesome. Headshotting aliens from long range with a pistol is fucking badass hence its presence in the game.

Does anyone know if they increased the player limit on the Armored Kill maps on the 360 version of the game? If it's limited to what it is now, I'm not going to get it, the levels are barren enough as it is without having even larger ones.

A lower limit isn't that bad, Starblade. There are only so many tanks to go around. Few players means more tanky action.

Finally picked this up a few weeks ago. Enjoying it so far. Feels like its paced much faster, even on normal servers never mind hardcore. Slightly better at flying choppers this time around, though I still suck with aircraft in general. Armoured Kill looks nice and I'll probably pick that up at the end of the month.

Oh, and it does run fine on my laptop on medium settings. So thanks to those who gave me some feedback on that front since otherwise was the deciding factor in my actually purchasing the game.

It also means less of the map is ever played on. Besides, I'm not the one who drives the tanks. I shoot them with rockets because I am impossibly bad at driving vehicles in BF3.

the armoured kill maps don't have enough vehicles for anything more then 32p
also playing on anything more then instant vehicle spawns is horrible.

I still find B2K maps most enjoyable. I do not have CQ and AK though.

RivalXfactor did a short review on CC. The short of it, its Battlefield CoD with a retarded spawn system.

    Welcome to EA, Ira.

Premuim players get early access to all the DLC.

You can buy AK on its actual release date as a separate expansion without having to buy th others. I don't see the problem. EA might be pushing "premium" but its hardly necessary. I grabbed the base game for $20 and decided to pick up Back to Karkand for $7.50. I'm probably going to get AK too after its release.

Premium players get early access, but that's it. AK gets public release at the end of the month. If people wanna pay upfront for unreleased content and garner some extras for doing so that's fine by me. I'll just plug along and pick up what I want when I want it because some things, like close quarters for example, don't interest me.

Yeah I'm fine with that as well, I thought they had already released it and the only way to get it was via a $50-$60 purchase. I have been shamed. I haven't played BF3 in months so I've missed all the recent DLC happenings.

So hows bf3 dlc? I still have vanilla (not even btk!). I'll have some extra cash this Christmas so I may buy the premium thing everyone's been raving about. Getting a new pc as well so it could be fun.

Hows the M16A4 and M416 these days? I heard some balance changed regarding them and I'm hoping they don't ended up sucking hard.

Premium is worth it, in my opinion.

I'm still an active BF3 player and the only expansion I haven't really enjoyed has been Armoured Kill. All expansions bring weapons, maps and game modes that are suited to specific play styles. Close Quarters for example leans heavily on the Call of Duty model of play with mindless running around shooting people in small environments with high rate of fire weapons, for example. I love BTK as the maps are heavily nostalgic from BF2.

Armoured Kill has some really nice, sprawling maps but unless you're in a vehicle you're screwed, pretty much. I think one of the main contributors to me not liking AK as much as the other expansions is that it was released around the time of another chopper nerf and being a Viper whore I think the playstyle and nerf of my beloved made it seem a bit naff to me. The maps are brilliant though.

I've only played about an hour of Aftermath but I'm really enjoying the new Scavanger mode. I've only played the one map and it's very urban and fun.

Overall I think Premium is worth it, but I am biased towards Battlefield as I frickin' love it

I think Armoured Kill didn't go far enough with the more fun vehicles (choppers, tanks {not Tank Destroyer}), more often then not I found myself waiting for them to spawn.

AK also came with a massive tank nerf too. It's funny how the big vehicle expansion just ended up castrating vehicles.
