    Unit Moving Animation

I was wondering if there was a way to get squads to hold their guns out while moving around (like in the campaigns in DoW2V/Chaos Rising)?

and if so is there a way to have where they will do it while in the Range setting and go back to holding them normally when in Melee setting?

This can be done by editing the motiontree for the space matrine animations. Using the developer version of the model editor, extract the following directory
    art/race_marine/troops/space_marine

then open up the space_marine.model file in the model editor, go to the motions tab <top right> changes to this section will alter the motiontree for the space marine model, and any models using this animation template will be effected by these changes.

to change the default animation when moving around with the bolter, we need to make changes to the range_burst folder. Go under range/base_motion/moving/ready_moving. Youll see the entry called 'fb_run'. This is the entry that tells the model which animation to play when moving around while armed with the bolter.

While this entry is selected, look at the table in the center right hand side, youll see 2 sections, node and motion. Under motion, youll see -Animation- range_burst/fb_run.
If you look at the animation section under range_burst on the left, youll see a list of all the animations to choose from with attached bones that are in reference to these animation files. I believe the animation you are looking for is called 'fb_aim_run'. Go back to the right hand side where you saw range_burst/fb_run, and change it to 'range_burst/fb_aim_run'. This will make it so that this animation is the default animation while the unit is moving around holding the bolter. Note this will not effect any other actions or melee attacks.

Done that, worked except that there is no sound when they fire, and also there is no Muzzle flash either(autogun, genade launcher, autopistol)

Also, is there any way I can make only one varient of a unit do the animation? like for intance the Heretics from TLS will do the animation but the PVP and Campaign varients wont?

Hmm you may need to make some changes to the motiontree for the bolters as well. Any muzzle flash and sound issues would have something to do with that. And btw, which models exactly are you working on this on? Heretics? I have noticed that there are problems with their motiontree in vanilla version as of the tau commander patch back in nov, and i havent been able to fix it.

Yea there is something wrong with the whole heretic animation set. I just reinstalled and repatched everything and in the standard non modded version of the game the heretics dont have any firing animations when armed with anything other than the grenade launcher. I havent gotten to mess with it too much but I havent been able to fix it. Everything looks like its in the right spot to me, not sure.
