It needs Commissars.
Shooting people in the back. May even scream "for the empra" while doing it, as easter egg.
HELL YES!
Been waiting for this for years!
Make no mistake. War is coming. With all it's glory, and all it's horror...

That is if THQ is still aroundEastern Front, release 2013.
#5
You surely are a pessimist in the case around CoH2, Akra?
#6
When I see the finished product, and it is good I will retract my previous statements.
epic cover is epic
I wonder if it's concept art by the same talented gent who did the OF characature concepts.
Hoping CoH2 Ships With Worldbuilder....

Remember not to post links to copyrighted material folks.
Also, hearing this is a leak.
#9
It is a leak done by PC gamer uk. And THQ is scrambling to bring everything into place as fast as possible
#10
That's what I've heard as well. This was apparently supposed to be E3 news.
THQ was not ready to talk about this yet, hence the silence on their feeds.
Well, at least this is good news on COH end, Dow 2 forums look like nid invasion occured, and almost everything was eaten away..
No qaurter back men, only forward or we will hold this line forever!!!

@Uberjumper: Well i've seen talk that it was supposed to may 18th. Apparently they had prepared an announcement in russia for a newssite there. Plus it was the June issue, and usually game magazines land a month before the are meant for. So it was probably a May announcement. But PC gamer uk just decided to go ahead before the agreed date.
#14
I was assuming it was just that the magazine got to someone's house before THQ expected, because hell I've seen that a bunch of times with Relic (and other) games over the years. Only after someone said this wasn't supposed to happen did I learn that it's a "leak".
#15
No, i believe this was a case of the magazine willingly breaking things. They said one date after they had agreed to the date THQ. So THQ scrambled to reach that.. Then the Magazine came out even earlier.
#16
This is great news, I've been hoping for an Eastern Front expansion since the original release and now it's going to be a full blown sequel! Hopefully THQ allocates the appropriate amount of resources to this project and this awesome concept isn't wasted on the last desperate gasps of a company going under.

Just a reminder here, in case anybody missed Uber's comment earlier in the thread...
We have already had to deal with a few people who posted links to scans from magazines, which is against the forum rules. Let's be very clear about this:
Do not post links to scans of copyrighted material here.

Hope this is done exceptionally well as a fan of what CoH brought to the table. Will be interesting to see if we get returnees in the form of allies, soviets and germans for MP and how much the game improves or diverges from the core gameplay concepts that CoH had.

Well from the Article they're sticking to the core concepts and not diverging in the way that DoW 2 did from DoW 1. But there will be new things though. Vaulting over cover, snow plays a role, for example in movement speed of units. True line of sight, that is, you can't see what your men can't see. Smoke grenades for infantry as well, fire will be more interesting and buildings can burn down.
Otherwise, saw screenshots of a T-34, SU-76 and different soviet infantry.
#21
And the official site is down. Something in russian and what i imagine is some text saying to return may 7th.. That is. Monday.
WOW I CANT BELIEVE IT!!!
Russian words in site means Briefing starts at 7 may
Holy mother of God.
Day 1 purchase. That is all.
This is great news, I'm excited![]()
BTW if you buy a copy of the PC Gamer in the UK they are giving away a copy of Company Of Heroes 1 for free.
#25
Well that's definately one way to increase CoH 2 sales i wager![]()
#26
True line of sight? Consider me interested.
[edit]
But what will really make or break this for me is the question if COH2 will offer better networking than COH. Drophacking and company were a big part of the reason why i stopped playing.
[/edit]
I'm praying coh 2 has coho type units, I truly do, miss my elite engineers, and demo engineer and Engineer with rifles that pop people heads of better than rifle men. I'm really want some of those units back. Miss wilson squad too.
Oh oh since its eastern front, rangers will be replaced with marines? Possible small amount of naval warfare? Geez the possibilities.

Breaking news. Germany declares war on Russia :P http://kotaku.com/5907619/company-of...n-gaming-press
As I said in my thread CoH2 Announced that has now been closed. I knew about the PC Gamer article that was in the UK version of the magazine yesterday.
This thread has been closed http://forums.relicnews.com/showthre...oH-2-AnnouncedI am aware of the PC gamer article yesterday, today I tried getting on the offical forums site as I do every day and was unable to refresh the page as I left it up yesterday. So I tried the main page. Well you will have to see for your self:
http://www.companyofheroes.com/
However after I created that thread I also found this article from today
http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/05/04/co...looks-amazing/

Thanks for the updates gents!.
Note we're going to be staffing up RN, so if you're keen to help report on CoH2, let us know.
#31
Is it just me, or is the person for the PC Mag (online) article cover a carbon copy of actor Mark Strong?
#32
Interesting point roflmao. he certainly looks an awful lot like him. Could be they were inspired by his presence ? :P
Perfect day for an official announcement. V-E Day (Victory in Europe Day)WOW I CANT BELIEVE IT!!!
Russian words in site means Briefing starts at 7 may
#34
Awesome stuff, I wonder why the Company of Heroes 1 site has is down because of Company of Heroes 2. I mean, usualy 2 different games have 2 different sites. Maybe they are linking them together after all? Maybe CoH2 will be CoH1 + CoH2 updated with Essence 3.0D?
@Celestial
The Company of Heroes website was also home of Company of Heroes: Online at one point, but that had little to do with COH1. It's just a community website. It would be a brilliant move for them to combine COH1 with COH2, but somehow I don't see that happening. But, who knows. We'll find out on Monday and at E3.
#36
@Celestial: More likely it's because why create two sites for it ? Why not just have one site for all CoH desires ? Plus it also means that CoH 1 players will be exposed to CoH 2.
#37
Of course, but it's always awesome to imagine such things ^^.
#38
@Imperial Dane: Well, Mark Strong did do voice acting in Warhammer: Space Marine, so he clearly has a relationship with Relic. I bet it's him :P.
Hmm... I'm not a big fan of CoH, but I admit - its beautiful RTS. Though I'm more interested in what
this game would be, it will show how's Relic doing, and it will also give a sign of what can we wait
for in DoW3 (which I'm big fan of)... if it ever happens.
If they'll make a solid game, I might even buy it, not that I want to play it really, but anything
to support good developer and its games (when they rly need it).

The company of heroes website now carries a CoH2 logo, along with some Russian script...
The Russian script says something in the lines of "The briefing starts at the 7th of May", according to a Russian friend of mine.
EDIT: Well, It seems I just skipped the whole thread, since I just noticed you've already noticed this.
#42
Yeah i think that has been said in this thread before :P It Opens up may 7th. We know thatCurious about the implications of True sight. Could mean an end of unit that cloaks in the middle of the road and such.
Will Corsix MS still work with COH2, Or do we have to wait and find out? If it doesn't work for COH2 will someone be working to patch it or anything like that? I'm wondering because seeing as Corsix left the community awhile back how will we mod COH2?
#44
Corsix is still around, he's doing university.
Another modder will have to step up if he's not around :-)
Anyways...I'm just glad that COH2 has finally been announced, I feel like my mod is now a waste of time though :S I finally got to a playable state with it and now COH2 comes out :\ At least I get another year to play with it before moving to COH2.
From the looks of the screenshots and info given in PC gamer I am certain this will be an amazing gameCan't wait for May 7th now

#46
Hopefully we hear about modding capabilities at E3...
Know what I mean? Nudge, nudge. Know what I mean?![]()

Ruined lives?
@eliw00d: I'm going to be a pessimist for once and throw out the supposition that due to Relic games not having much developer-provided mod support in the past few years, CoH 2 will be no exception. A Worldbuilder and a SCaRdoc perhaps, at least. But that's all I'd ever expect.
I wouldn't at all mind being pleasantly surprised, of course.
I am an Iron Warrior! Iron Within, Iron Without!
@Gorb
Support is always nice, but what I mean is what we would have to work with. It would be nice to know what kind of data files the game uses, if SCAR is still in use, what engine it uses (I assume from the pictures it is a modified Essence), etc.
#50
I do indeed Gorb, i have been a bit busy with Darksiders II but i also do all Relic games so you will be stuck with me on this one ;-)
