Look at the bright side, kid - you get to keep all the money.
Seems like the game is scheduled to be playable on July 17 (Early access). You can also apparently pay to gain access to various things when the game is released (seems that the benefits are available to NA only) :

Special edition for North America only? Automatically not spending money on this game if I can help it. As much as I love Mechwarrior, I don't enjoy getting shafted.
This is their response to everyone being upset about the NA only stuff.
http://mwomercs.com/news/2012/05/260...-clarification
Also Beta starts tomorrow with invites being sent then. So update your profiles (theres an option to show your interest in it and to submit your system specs)Thirdly, the reason this announcement stated 'North America' is that it's for North American servers – As we have mentioned we are working very hard to launch MechWarrior Online in every region worldwide. We may also run a similar Operation for other regions, therefore we are required to recommend that for the best play experience you register and play in your region in the near future. However There is no IP blocking. You can signup from everywhere just keep in mind that if you are outside of North America we cannot guarantee your play experience.
So metagame is like WoT, credits and xp, premium accounts give you more, premium mechs give you more, probably will be tiers and some other arbitrarily decided limit on cash and xp, I hope they do it a bit differently than WoT since that model can get a bit tiring after a while :I
*puppies*
It sounds like WoT without the upward grind to me. You get your mech and then you get credits to upgrade it, train the pilot and what not. Less emphasis about getting a new mech and more on making the one you have yours. You can also apparently buy your favourite design with cash and since it's balanced as per the tabletop game everything should hopefully be viable in some way or another.
That and it has a respawn type game mode, so it's not just one life annihilation/cap the base type gameplay.
Best if you manage get into beta before Jule 17. So you can make an informed decision about monetary investment.

Someone refresh my memory, were inferno SRMs in this timeline? If so, there's one other option for my SRM catapult builds.
I'm willing to take the higher chance of internal ammunition explosion Inferno missiles tend to bring.
E=mc^(OMG)/wtf
Inferno SRMs predate the Age of War, so yes. Infernos are around :P
DoW II - Saunders
CoH - CommanderNewbie
If I am not mistaken, only Inferno SRM-2s are available. The 4s and 6s do not get developed until later.
Given all the people who seem to have an aversion to ammo and there being no coolant flush in this game, flamers and Infernos are a sound choice reguardless of size. Cook the energy boating fools and uncased ammo bins.
I do hope they bring more mechs into this game at a reasonable rate, other than the Commando, the mech list is rather devoid of mechs I truely give a damn about. Needs more Bombardiers and Stalkers before I start squee'ing at the lineup.
Inferno ammo is not restricted by launcher grade, Nanaki. The restriction they put in MW2Mercs (didn't they make it a seperate weapon, too?) was artificial--you can load infernos in to 2, 4, and 6-packs just as well.
Bombardier? Eugh!
If flamers are actually useful (like they were in MW3) I might just have to try a light disabler mech n_n
nyan nyan nyan nyan nyan nyan nyan nyan nyan nyan nyan nyan nyan nyan![]()
Don't you be hating on my Bombardier!Bombardier? Eugh!
The Bombardier, specifically the one with the XL engine, is pretty much a Charger with a pair of LRM20's. You drop copious amounts of ordinance on them at range, then run up and punch them in the face. It has a big enough engine and just enough weight to be rather effective at it.
Of course give it the archer treatment and swap the LRM20's out for a pair of LRM15's and a pair of LRM6's, and you have a really scary mech... that has piss all ammo, but it's still scary.
I'm probably going to go a really light, or a super heavy. I played a bit of heavy gear 2 a while ago. Still, super light is probably the go.

So a new heavy, here is it's Sarna page.
Anyone got the beta invite yet?
From what ive read, they havent actually sent any out yet but will begin to in the next few days (maybe today?)
(Apparently posted on Twitter yesterday) - http://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/8937-some-good-news/
@russ_bullock What day will the Beta actually start for the selected Beta players?
@nano_tech well we will continually add some each day/week as we go along so there is no specific day
@russ_bullock Buddy, Old Pal! Long time friend! Great one! There must be a mistake, I didn't find a Golden Ticket in my Piranhabar today!
@Omega59er keep those fingers crossed the ship hasn't sailed yet

I'm short and misanthropic. I'll bite your nipples off.
just noticed it said that WAY after it lets you know you're in![]()
ahaha it definitely could have been placed earlier on xD
It's quite silly, it's not even in the NDA or Terms of Use. They just happen to mention it after you agree to those.just noticed it said that WAY after it lets you know you're in
Or so I've been told.

[16:31] <Afoxi> I used to be a freelance Mechwarrior like you, but then I took an Arrow IV to the Lower Leg Actuator.
[16:38] <Siber> afoxi, you are terrible.

your a very bad man. i hope someone fires 3 PPC's straight in your cockpit
Paul Inouye, glorious PGI dev troll of the MWO Mercs forums, made that joke back in November. I've been ripping him off ever since, it's fucking awesome. If RN had that "like" feature like the MWO Mercs forums, I'd like that post.

The timer coincides with the start of E3, so I reckon it's the start of the 'hardcore hype generation' phase.
There are several threats on the MWO forum that believe it is either the second coming of Kerensky or the reveal that the original mechs are getting their copywrited unseen designs for some odd reason.

I wasn't aware Piranha was making an appearance in E3.
I feel like its probably the final mech thats going to be in the game, as what else would the decrypted image be for an online only MP game :P

Bastard.
EDIT: Worth noting - they've allowed activating your beta profiles (those who do have a higher chance of getting into CB). You get a higher priority in if you complete your profile.

You're wrong there Sohtraraz![]()

lol.. such a thing doesn't exist, and this one is specifically an international closed betaUnless your European considering its US only beta.
Goobers, the denizens of the MWO forums are made of pure, concentrated optimism. Despite the fact that there has only ever been one clue to the appearance of the Unseen designs (the Whammy in the 2009 trailer, and even that was for a proto-MW5, before it evolved into MWO), they still think that obviously the Unseen designs are next to be announced. It's only logical. Duh!
Afoxi is right, neither Piranha Games nor Infinite Games Publishing appear on the E3 exhibitors list for this year.
Lok, I find it unlikely. PGI hasn't said anything about any upper limit on Mech numbers (nor a lower limit, to be sure). It stands to reason that with a free-to-play model like theirs, periodically adding Mechs to the roster is going to be one of the big draws for players to invest money into the game.
Besides, unlike all the other Mech reveals, the image on the artemis teaser page is in landscape, not portrait. Looks like 16:10, which I find odd as it's an aspect ratio that's kind of on its way out the door. I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest it is the thumbnail for a new trailer.
The PGI guys clarified the beta and pre-release details already. The beta is open to anyone in the world, although the beta servers will all be in North America for the first phase. It's the Operation Inception bonuses that are NA-only. On the other hand, the guys at PGI have said that similar bonus packages for other regions are not out of the question.

Or did I miss some sort of other beta announcement letter?Thirdly, the reason this announcement stated 'North America' is that it's for North American servers – As we have mentioned we are working very hard to launch MechWarrior Online in every region worldwide. We may also run a similar Operation for other regions, therefore we are required to recommend that for the best play experience you register and play in your region in the near future. However There is no IP blocking. You can signup from everywhere just keep in mind that if you are outside of North America we cannot guarantee your play experience.
Edit: And yes I am assuming they will get more north american players then other areas just to ease the lag issues.
Yes you did Sohtaraz. The one bit about non NA's not getting blocked, thus allowing everyone to participate.
@Ramrod, if i recall correctly, didnt they mention there would only be 12 mechs at launch?
@Sohtaraz, even in your quote, it says you can sign up from anywhere but it may be very laggy, which in turn could effect your experience.
Edit: Seems like they might actually be at E3? http://mwomercs.com/news/2012/06/270-looking-ahead-june

Alright, I wasn't too sure about this at first. MP games are rarely my thing. But I've read and watched a couple previews, and it's starting to look very interesting. A lot of that is because it's Battletech.
The Catapult redesign looks awesome (was always my favorite IS heavy). If/when the Clans show up, I'm really looking forward to seeing what they do with the Mad Cat and Vulture.

Something more to do with the Artemis thing:
If you go to http://static.mwomercs.com/ you get a terminal window for ComStar. Haven't gotten it to do anything yet though.
Xbox Live/GFWL/Relic Online/Steam: Saberdark
In order to counteract all the stupid puzzles and weird things on the MWO sites now...
Here's some weapon art!
Apparently they are going to make it so each weapon you equip looks different, so other players can identify and blow off which ever part of your mech has the firepower.
Wait wait wait wait. I thought the ER stuff was clan only?
«There's a bit of Doomrider in all of us.»
-www.Sloganizer.net
Inner Sphere developed extended range PPCs and lazors, they were designated ER PPC and ER LL, clanner tech was CPPC AND CERPPC. Naturally clanner standard CPPC worked about as powerful as the inner spheres extended range varients.
So a example would be:
LL 600m range
ER LL: 750m range
C LL 850m range
C ER LL: 950m range
Figures might be off, been a long time since I delved into stuff before the games.
I do believe that all this news deserves a celebration brought to you by Mechwarrior 4.
#97
Lok, no, they did not. The fans extrapolated the number from:
3 Mechs announced in November (first reveal) + 1 Mech per month until August (first Clanners encountered in Periphery) = 12 Mechs.
The brain trust of the MWO forums were so pleased with themselves that they decided to go around pretending it was fact.
Well there are 11 confirmed mechs so they are not that far off![]()

Who's to say a 13th won't show up?
