Add more weapon ranges?? (short, mid, long, distant)

I was wondering if it was possible to another range setting to weapons. I want there to be a fifth range to all weapons, point blank. As of now, all I have to work with is short range, mid range, long range, and distant. Anyone know how to solve this?

I also think the game engine will simply ignore additionally range settings.

Indeed, as far as I know range is limited with 4 sections: short-medium-long-distant.

I've always wondered, what does point blank range actually do?

I know that some weapons have it set to true and some false, and IIRC you can change the range in the tuning file (7m or something by default?), but what effect does it actually have in-game?
