    Xalibur`s custom FX

    Hi guys,
    Copernicus made some modifications on his DoW2 modding tool for me and now I`m able to edit COH *.action files. These define fx effects, sounds & camshake options.
    I allways wanted to have some new fx explosions for more variety and so I made some new effects I want to share with the modding community. There are some unused fx effects in the relic art archive.
    This all is only an ingame optical gimmick, but maybe some modders here will be happy to get something new. As allways please give a little credit

    Here we go (some vids are in slow-mo!):

    Preview: 70kg FW190 bombs


    Preview: 250lb air bombs


    Download: new small airburst


    Download: enhanced V1 explosion


    Download: heavy artillery


    Download: low angle Nebelwerfer impact


    Download: enhanced 81mm mortar impact




    I will upload the files within the next days when I have some more free time.

    Smashing, hopefully the V1 effect could be used to complement the Sturmtiger in BotB?

    So its now possible to edit that stuff? is it possible to make a bigger version of the 150mm howiter impact, because im looking for one to be used with a 240mm howitzer
    A jagdpanther has a litter of 33 hetzers. 17 hetzers are eaten by at guns. What percentage of hetzers were blown to bits by at guns?

    @robotnik: It will be very easy to edit the 150mm howitzer impact and make it "bigger"
    @Celéstial: The tool is Cope`s DoW2 editor. I will ask him if he/me can share this modified version...

    I`ve added the first DL. Please give me some feedback if it works properly

    also, i talked to cope about the tool, and he told me he updated the DOW2 modding tool to open action files. he already uploaded it to his site

    im still not quite sure how the action files work though, but if anyone else wants to take a shot heres the tool.

    Awesome stuff! Two things; how do I have to use the mod folder for this- or can it be intstalled directly in-game and used online (like skins)? Also- any chance to make an alternative (or varying) vehicle explosion? The ball of flame gets a bit overused- it would be cool of with an explosion with belching black smoke and less flash. Just a thought. Great work though

    These new fx files are only for modding purpose. Regarding the tank explosions: the fx itself is linked within the model files. So If I would change the FX it would be changed for all tanks at once.

    BTW: I`ve upped some new stuff: enhanced V1 and a new smaller airburst explosion (that was simply not used by Relic):

    Nice stuff, Xali! And it is so great to see that my work is appreciated . From v1.991b on my tool accepts fake-steam paths, so you can get it to work without owning DoW2. Then you only need to drag and drop the action-files into the tool's window to open them.

    Is there a tutorial anywhere explaining how to edit action files? And does it require the OE, or can I just use the toolbox?

    I'd like to try my hand at it, but I don't know how to...

    You need OE if you want to put in custom effects like that. The new DOW II toolbox might work though, however I have failed to get it working as of yet.

    This fx uses the the same FX that is used by Relic for the Tiger s-mine launcher!



    Download S-Mine FX | for fx_munition_name use "s-mine"
