How do you compile maps properly???

    Hi,

I have made my first map. I know how to compile the map the standard way, but this means there is no picture of the map when in lobby etc. I have been watching Loltoone's YouTube videos on how to compile the maps the advanced way using Corsix's Mod Studio. For some reason this isnt working for me, the video's are 3 years old so im guessing out of date? But i was just wondering if there were anyway to compile the 8 files that he showed in his video using another tool?

I have had to put spaces in the link, after "http" as I am a new member, and wont let me post links! Damn Rules!

What do you meant with "compile". There is nothing compiled. It's only compressed in an archive format (SGA) like a simple zip package.

If you know the file and folder structure required by a SGA archive you can also use Dekhranic-SGA-Archive-GUI-1.4.1.0. It's a simple standalone archiver and should be perfect to your need. I use it themselves for such things.

Just to create the SGA, that works fine, but cant get the images in. Nevermind will do without, the map works fine Thanks alot Jagdpanther

Why not, just put in the files you need and pack it. Easier it can't be, it's like zipping some stuff. Sure you have to create those files you missed by hand, but where is the problem to do it?

For the lobby you need those two files:
    mapname_map_base.tga (has to be 768x768)
    mapname_map_slots.tga (has to be 768x768)

Both files can be a copy of the "mapname_mm.tga" and to the "mapname_map_slots.tga" you only have to add the position numbers.

The loading screen is simply "mapname.tga". This file can have a larger dimension.

    That's all.

just to complete Jagdpanther, the Loading screen regular resolution is 2134*1200, if you use an other format, your picture will be displayed streched with few screen ratio.
