Homeworld 2 : Babylon 5 World Without End Mod - Mac - Crashing

    Hi all,
    Great forum here !
    I have a macbook pro 13" 2010 model.
Homeworld 2 with the CnlPeppers awesome B5 mod. It works fine under this command line from terminal in macosx and loads the game BUT only in deathmatch mode.

    cmd line for mac : /Homeworld2/Homeworld\ 2/Homeworld\ 2.app/Contents/MacOS/Homeworld\ 2 -overridebigfile

HOWEVER! it crashes back to desktop in capture mode. I notice a error script comes upon loading the game and crash pls read below.
I dont know how to fix this as it works beautifully in deathmatch mode.

Try removing the UI folder. It's entirely possible that the UI for the capture mode isn't mac compatible. The mac version of HW2 is more strict than the pc version when it comes to syntax, so custom files that work fine on a pc may not work at all on a mac. Judging from the errors you've posted, it looks ui related, so it may just be possible that you can run the capture mode without the ui feedback. I'm not sure if the mode will even be properly playable like that, but it's worth a try. If that doesn't do it, you'll have to play it in deathmatch mode, or get a windows machine.

    Hi TON_viper
Tried what you said , still didnt work it still came up with the errors as well , there has to be a fix somehow if it works in deathmatch mode.
just a question on the build ships the x-omega - how come I cant build any in deathmatch? and is there any mulitplayers over the internet playing this mod??

    Hi TON_Viper
Thanks for the info before prolly have to go windows box. or at least a partition on my mac with bootcamp.
but she handles it well in the mac in deathmatch mode. anyway! UI was removed still crashes however theres a new message "segmentation fault"

    any idea whats up here?

has anyone got this fully working on the mac?

Segmentation fault means that it's looking for and not finding one of the files from the UI folder. The only way to fix it on mac, so you can play the new gamemode would be to go through the files and manually fix every error the mac complains about. Problem is, I wouldn't know how, and it would be impossible to test if it worked anyway, since I don't have access to a mac. You'd have to learn how to mod the game yourself to fix the mod so it works on a mac, since you need to be able to test the game on a mac to do that.

As for the Omega-X, the research dependencies are triggered by controlling certain points on the map in Capture mode, so you can only build it in that mode. We never focused on making the Deathmatch mode properly playable, so you're bound to run into stuff like that from time to time. That's also why there aren't really any custom maps for that mode.
