Summoning dreadnought via commander?

    Space Marines Summoning dreadnought via commander?

    I'm working on a custom commander, a space marine veteran which I gave the ability to summon a dreadnought by copying some stuff from the ethereal.

    I would like to have my dreadnought summoned with the deep strike animation and effects, does anyone know how to do it?

    Another thing I'd like to ask, is it possible to add the possession of a weapon as requirement or that 7 minutes of the game has passed?

    I can answer this question, your second question I don't understand.

    The only way I see it, is if you emplace the spawn_ext on the commander, set the commander to "Holds squads produced", and then the you know how it goes deepstrike.

    He wants to know if you can use 'having a weapon upgrade' as a requirement for a skill or something. For example a 'Focus Fire' ability on a Space Marine would require the SM to get a Heavy Bolter upgrade. The other case would be having stuff locked until a certain amount of time after the beginning of the game.

    I think its possible in soulstorm but not in dark crusade.

    It's not possible as such, but you can have a weapon that is granted by a research which also grants something else.

    About the commander spawning a dreadnought...why? What is the intended gameplay mechanic here?

    oh i did this b4. use what cylarne said. i made a techmarine able to create and deepstrike a venerable dreadnought a while back so its possible.

    I'm wondering if Aziz wants to restrict the dreadnought to landing near the commander, and not have the dreadnought be able to walk back inside the commander for another deepstrike.

    One method to accomplish this is to take a bit from the other thread and have the commander use an ability that spawns an entity which uses the deepstrike model, which then auto-possesses with a dreadnought squad (the auto-possess should be timed to correspond to the deepstrike model animation). I think that you can even adjust the effects to have the deepstrike appear independently of the auto-possess entity (so that the deepstrike object doesn't disappear the moment the dreadnought spawns).

    But the way to do it depends a lot on exactly what you're trying to do.

    I understand the first question. As much as i forbid copying entries from one unit of a different race to another, it should be fine for you.

    I also understand (but dont know how to) that you want to use the drop pod animation for the summoning of the dreadnought and not the default terminator teleport as all directly spawned models are. I dont think its possible, oh and whiteshield, If its not related to dark eldar or sisters of battle, its possible in DC. Just a heads up.

    Use the direct spawn extension - have a look at the Tau Etherial or Chaos Sorcerer.

    As for changing the effects, there is a line in the ext which refers to which effect it will use. Not sure you can make it deepstike because the dread will appear instantly and the animation would look screwed, but you could point it to a suitable teleport type flash.

    Maybe you can use the Orbital relays drop pod deep strike anim.

    EDIT: /|\ the thing above works, No Holds Barred has it done with a Vet squad.
