Tourist Info The Algarve region of Portugal takes up much of the country's southern reaches. Conquered by many different groups throughout history, the Moors had control of the area for over 600 years and gave the genesis of its name today. However, ever since the 60s in particular, the Algarve region has emerged as one of, if not the, pre-eminent tourist destination in Europe. This is mainly down to beautiful beaches and scenery, a welcoming atmosphere, and the extremely pleasant climate. In recent years, cheap holidays in the Algarve have become even more widely available and subsequently even more popular.

The statistics around the Algarve speak for themselves. During the peak summer season, people on an Algarve holiday can expect to enjoy at least 10 hours of sunlight a day, and the temperatures can rise to a pleasant 29 degrees. This climate ensures that people wanting a warm, but not overly stifling heat on holiday find the Algarve region very attractive.

The Algarve has many interesting and beautiful places to stay. The "capital" of the Algarve is HI IM A LINK SPAMMER LOLOLOL which is a delightful old town with much history, such as the cathedral and the Arco da Vila, a fine gateway in the ancient walls surrounding the town. There is also two museums, the Museu Municipal and the Museu Maritimo, chronicling the history of the town for the inhabitants, and for anyone on a cheap holiday in the Algarve too!
The charming town of Portimao is the de facto second city of the Algarve, and is the main place for those on an Algarve holiday looking for sea fishing opportunities. There is great history here also, with a church, a Jesuit college and a convent situated within the city. The city, due to its fishing renown, is famous for the quality of its seafood restaurants and is well worth a visit.

Those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the main resorts and enjoy a truly Portuguese experience would appreciate the beauty of the small fishing town Carvoeiro. ther places of note to anyone considering a cheap holiday in the Algarve include Albufeira, for its beach scene and nightlife, and Praia da Rocha, for much the same reasons!

Lagos too is a nice seaside resort for anyone thinking of an Algarve holiday, whilst Monte Gordo is fast acquiring a reputation as a fantastic “less touristy” destination.
The Algarve holiday however is not just about lounging on the beach and eating and drinking, although these are of course essential parts of any holiday!

The villages of Alvor, Armacao de Pera, Altura, Tavira and Monchique are not central tourist areas, but are well worth a visit. The latter, attractively perched high above the Algarve is a beautiful small town offering great panoramas of the surrounding area. There is also a well at Caldas de Monchique, whose waters are said to be beneficial to skin and rheumatic conditions.

Alvor is a sleepy fishing village close by Portimao, and its narrow town centre streets are home to cosy bars and restaurants serving delicious seafood. There is the characteristic sandy beach here, as there wouldn’t be an Algarve holiday location where there wasn’t an excellent sandy beach nearby!
Other popular destinations amongst people looking for cheap Algarve Holidays include Sagres , Vale do Lobo and Vale do Garrao, whilst neighbouring towns Quarteira and Vilamoura are fantastic cosmopolitan vibrant places to visit.

Of course, one of the things that might attract some people to a cheap holiday in the Algarve is the quality of its golf courses. There are around 30 top-class courses in the Algarve, with the verdant greens complemented by the breathtaking scenery that frames the courses. With the region being a relatively short flight from most areas of Europe, it means that golfers can have a cheap holiday in the Algarve to keep their swing in check when some of their home courses might have become unplayable due to the weather. Quinta do Lago is a popular destination for golfers, being not too far from Faro and boasting some fantastic courses.

As already alluded to, the Algarve's location means it is within easy reach of anywhere in Europe, and a lot of budget airlines now schedule flights there, meaning it is easier and cheaper than ever before to have a cheap holiday in the Algarve. Whether it is a beach holiday, fishing, adventure sports, history or golf, an Algarve holiday should have something to satisfy you.
