    Codex Codex Mod for SS



    Description

    The Codex mod aims to increase the the level of enjoyment with each existing Soulstorm race, but at the same time increase the amount of Codex units in each race, adding many new units, characters, researches and upgrades . On top of this there are seven, yes seven, new races:

    Chaos Daemons
    Chaos Renegades (The Lost and the Damned)
    Grey Knights
    Adeptus Mechanicus
    Blood Angels
    Space Wolves
    Dark Angels


    In addition, there are expansions on some of the Soulstorm races, such as Chaos Legions (9 Original Traitor Legions and Renegades) and Space Marines (Remaining 6 First Founding Legions, and 3 Second Founding Legions). Different Orc Clans and Eldar Craftworlds will be released in the next version (3.2).

    Installation


    Note: If you are running Windows 7, disable User Account Control, as this can cause problems when extracting. To do this, click on your user icon on the start menu, then click on 'Change User Account Control Settings'. A new window should appear. Drag the slider to the bottom ('Never notfiy'), then click OK. Finally, restart your computer.

    Once downloaded, just extract all 3 parts to your Dawn of War - Soulstorm directory ('C:\Program Files\THQ\Dawn of War - Soulstorm', unless you are running the steam version, in which case it is 'C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\dawn of war soulstorm'). Note: on a 64 bit Microsoft operating system, open 'Program Files (x86)', not 'Program Files'.

    Then download and extract Hotfix 3.1 (to the same location) and select "Dawn of War: Codex" from the in game manager.

    Great work guys. One of the QUALITY mods of the community.

    The gameplay is rewarding, and the additions and variety are stunning!

    Thanks for the comments guys

    Do you mean an entirely new race, or the existing Grey Knights? The Grey Knights are a bit split (you can only get one hero from each branch).
    All three braches are already in or are being worked on: the Deathwatch are being worked on (only as a sigle unit, though), the Ordo Malleus are the Grey Knights and the Ordo Hereticus are Sisters of Battle; if an Inquisition race was created, they would just be mix of Sisters, Grey Knights and a Deathwatch team.

    Finally a relicnews topic! I've been following this mod since version 1, love it to bits, my favorite. The more races the merrier, and this is the most complete mod when it comes to that. I can't wait to see Deathwatch properly represented, and the other major races to receive the excellent branching Chaos and regular Space Marines have.

    Have you seen HellBoy's models? He used to post a bunch in the Ultimate Apocalypse thread, but you can now see some of his work in the Ultimate Adeptus Mechanicus thread. He mostly does titans and such, but I've seen some pretty nice units he's modeled and animated, perhaps some could show up in Codex?

    I've no skills for modeling, but if you ever need another set of eyes for testing, I've got the time. I'll certainly try to help catch bugs post-release(s) in any event. Best mod can always be made even better.

    @Maximicus, i'm very sorry, but at this stage (so close to 3.2), we can't accept testers. Thanks very much for your offer, though, and i'll give you a PM when we're looking for testers for 3.3

    As for HellBoy's models, i'll ask boothy what he thinks and get back to you.

    Alright spoken to boothy; as he tends to work on titans, we probably won't use it. Titans are well...a bit too large, and make everything obsolete (there are Warhounds in game, but obviously they're small compared to other titans) and so take the strategy out of the game; it's just a competition to see who can build a titan first. As for his units, we'll look into them and may use a few. Thanks for the suggestion.

    No problem, I'll be sticking around, so if needed for 3.3 and beyond, I'm happy to help.

    And yeah, Warhounds are plenty big enough at this scale, but I've seen some other, smaller units he's made, mostly IG tank variants, IIRC. And yeah, the race to T5-6 for an instant win button takes the fun out of massing weaker units, as fun as it is to watch from time to time.

    I'm a bit out of the loop: Is the Chaos Daemon race going to get any further updates or is it going to merge with Cylarne's Chaos Daemons race?

    If it's going to be worked on, are you open to suggestions? In fact they are pretty simple.

    Master deathteam15, with the lack of recent knowledge out of the question we will (eventually) be upping the scale of both Daemons mod combined with the best of the best work; one Daemons mod to not confuse the audience.

    is there going to be any form of mod for the soulstorm campaign? or scrapping the campaign entirely to make room for a new one? or are you just leaving the campaign alone?

    damn, a new campaign would be awesome, espescially with the new races added, are you planning on putting the dark mechanicus in as well?

    also, i was just wondering, whenever i try to play the game, it all runs fine until a certain point during the skirmish, usually about 5 mins into the game, and it just crashes completely, i've tried it on all races and have the 6 parts installed plus the patches but nothing's worked, i deleted the "codex" file and i'm re-dowloading it, will this make any difference?

    that sounds great, the white scars are waaay different from codex chapters, i reckon you could add it as a full race but i reckon the salamanders or the legion of the damned would fit better as they are more diverse

    @Vinyl, a campaign is a lot of work, plus it's only really playable once...so at the moment the team's just working on skirmish/multiplayer. We are not planning a Dark Mechanicus race, although we are open to race suggestions (boothy is looking for a race to work on, so i'll ask him what he thinks of DM).

    That's a good idea about WSs, i'll get back to you on that. However, we only have 1 different unit per chapter, and at the moment it's bikes for WS. It's always possible to expand, though. As far as full races go, though, I think we already have enough Space Marine chapters. However, after the White Scars mod makes White Scars a seperate chapter (instead of a SM replacement), it will be easy to add them onto Codex by editing the .module file (see the FAQs, there's a walkthrough on adding races there).

    I am thinking now to do WS as stand-alone race and its possible (but takes some time). And than i will ask our teamleader boothy_p to permission of including this race to Codex or make WS a combine race.

    yeah, i was reading through a book that featured the dark mechanicus, they're really creepy with fleshy swellings mixed with technology either human or xenos but really corrupted looking, i could sends you some picture links if you want?

    Sorry, you've lost me Vinyl. I'll just clear up some stuff on White Scars. Currently, they are a seperate mod to codex. However, you can chose them as a chapter with SMs, but you only have access to 1 special WSs unit (there may be a few other alterations, aswell). When the White Scars race on the WSs mod is made seperate to SMs, though, they can then be added to the Codex mod very easily as an entirely new race (For more info read the FAQs).

    If the team decides that the introduction of White Scars as a separate race - a good idea, I can now speed up and make the White Scars in my mod as a separate race. It is possible. I have for this programs and abilities.

    :o I know about Dark Angels, Blood Angels, Black Templars, Space Wolves and Grey Knights, but not about Blood Raves and Ultramarines. I'll look into them, i'm a big Blood Raven and Ultramarine fan!

    Yeah there is, same with Chaos. In 3.2 you'll also be able to chose a craftworld for Eldar and a clan for orks.

    sweet as, i'm not a major eldar fan and i'm crap with orks but i'll give them a go.
    how about adding in the option for either the base septs for the tau or choosing the farsight enclaves, the ones who split off from the empire?

    also, this problem with my copy of the codex mod, do you have any idea as to why it keeps crashing 5 mins into every game? i mean, i have an awesome mod, but i just can't play it

    That's a possibility, but it won't be in any versions soon, as there's things we would like to work on more

    When you say 'I have an awesome mod', do you mean you've edited the mod in some way? If so, there's probably a problem there.
    If not, then try deleting your Codex folder and .module file and then re-extracting parts 1, 2 and 3 to the SS directory all at the same time. Then extract the 3.1 hotfix.

    i haven't edited it at all, i don't know how and to be honest i can't really think of any way i'd want to mod it.
    do you mean at the same time as in simultaneously? i usually do it one part after the other, i'll give it a try and see if it works

    alright, i'll give it a try, that said, my DOW_Soulstorm directory is FAAAAAR from vanilla, it's pretty much full of mods, the "Codex" directory seems separate though
