[Blood Bowl] Chaos Edition - Doltathon IX is go!

The Story So Far: Blood Bowl is a faithful (albeit slightly buggy) adaptation of the hilarious Games Workshop board game, in which two teams of armoured sociopaths from the Warhammer world play a violent and corrupt mash-up of American football, rugby and barely-disguised cheating. It's kept many of us here at RelicNews amused and infuriated for months in total, and now there's more.

Blood Bowl: Chaos Edition is the biggest version of Blood Bowl yet, with a total of 23 teams. New teams added are Daemons of Khorne, Underworld and (finally!) Chaos Dwarves. There's one new stadium, two new Star Players (woo ) and an enhanced single player. It's also worth noting that Legendary Edition and Chaos Edition are compatible with each other, so you can play if you have either of these.

Goddamn It Kir, I had only just recovered from my last bout of BLOODBOWL RAGE, months of therapy down the tubes man, also, a chunk of my cash in the near future.

Depending on the take-up (and if I have the money and time to spare getting it...), I may put together another RelicNews Blood Bowl league when this is released. We always have a lot of fun playing, but luck usually punishes one or two people quite badly, they get frustrated and give up; alternatively people run out of time or RL necessitates their absence. This sort of thing does rather kill momentum- I can't remember how many leagues we've actually finished, but I know it's not many. Still, starting a new Doltathon would rather gel with Bowkers' new stars-in-his-eyes vision of having more multiplayer gaming going on here.

So basically it's 'Blood Bowl competition and lolz' vs 'Blood Bowl rage, frustration and shelling out for a new version' in competition. As I say, depends on how many people take it up...

I think our best league had all but one game played by the end. Honestly though, seeing how angry I can get Is half the fun for me, and there's always that quadruple dodge ball pickup in 2 tackle zones with a double GFI touchdown that puts me in a good mood and sees me through the next 5 curbstomps...

I should play a bashy team for once.

I'd certainly be interested in picking it up if it means I could compete in a Doltathon and show my complete lack of talent. It'll at least encourage me to go back and play some more. Woo Lizardmen and their fragile skinks, although I do recall that in about 15 games my skinks were fine but my kroxigor died. How does that even happen?

Thought I'd necro this thread and gauge interest in Blood Bowl given that I picked up Chaos Edition in the Steam Winter Sale aaaaaaand TotalBiscuit of Youtube fame has just started running a Blood Bowl league on his channel, which I thought I'd share in the hope that it maybe interests a few new people.



I think there's at least enough interest among Dolts for a small Relic league, but we'll see, shall we? We'll see.

EDIT: LEGENDARY EDITION and CHAOS EDITION are compatible as of a patch in November. This means that you don't even have to buy Chaos Edition to play with people who do.

Loving BB lately. Got a league going over at HMG with some of our members as well. Haven't actually started playing that league yet, but I very much have the BB bug

Spitefire, I'm afraid it's only Legendary and Chaos editions that are compatible. They're currently £15 and £20 respectively on Steam.

Just a side thought. For anyone who owns previous BB games ON STEAM, you are able to purchase Chaos Edition for £6.99 (regional equivalents unknown to me, sorry) and this includes extra copies to gift.

I bought a copy for a BB 1st timer and gifted it to him via Steam. £6.99 for Chaos Edition.

If you're looking to start playing BB, might I suggest you find someone you trust who already has it on Steam and ask them very nicely to save you a bunch of money.

Yeah, I'd like to know as well. Is there a league for this current "wave" of Blood Bowl? How to we apply, etc? Does it matter if two or more people pick the same race? Let's get this going! I got a team of bloodthirsty sports stars itching to smash some people!

I love Blood Bowl and recently got the upgrade to Chaos Edition, but there's no way I'm likely to have the time for regular league play. A big part of me wants to give it a go, but I foresee several forfeit matches because I end up a no-show... and I don't want to inflict that on my fellow Blood Bowl Dolts.

I picked Chaos Edition for my birthday. The first turn of my first match, a Wood Elf killed my Lizardman big guy. I was sad. Then I made a Norse team, and I wasn't sad any more.

How did I miss this? My MeanMachine is calling for blood again, and my Vikings got bored from poking snowmen all the day. Count me in, I would say a open league would be the best to avoid scheduling problems at the beginning. We could try to get a regular league up while playing the open one.

I got BB Legendary Edition a year ago, played it for a month, then got bored and uninstalled it.
The game got boring because it seemed all I ever did was make a cage with my team on 1 side of the field, and then bash my way to the endzone. That's about the least risky play, and therefore the only way to do things. All other plays such as passing, or dodging, or down the center, are all too risky. The dice god forced you to learn to do things with the least risk and the most safety nets... and that's always cage-crawl down one side. I used reasonably agile teams: Humans, Vampires.
Also, I thought the mechanic of not having the team heroes in your team as standard to be HORRIBLE. The most interesting characters in the roster, and I have to pay how much to make them play for one game?! I think your heroes come as standard if you choose the Classic Mode, correct? But then you won't have all the other good things such as fireball interference, customizable armour, etc.

Ok, so for now I've reopened our old league and renamed it, so take a new team then search for and apply to the Relicnews Doltathon VIII (password "relicnews"). We currently have space for 6 more teams, though that can be edited. Currently you'll be going up against my Chaos Dwarfs and dakadaka's Skaven. Games will be played weekly, coaches will be responsible for when they play their own games.

I'll get an Open League up for those who can't manage a regular league as well.
