It's a moba game with mythological gods. No christianity though, too op

5v5 teams fight on a map (that has jungle buffs, and nashor/roshan and lol's dragon equivalent). Oh, and you play it in third person, auto attacks are skill shots, all skils are skill shots and because of the new perspective, new options open up (like ganking where you just have to come up from behind and WHACK!). Game is in closed beta, but it's going to be free to play, just like LoL. There's fairly few gods to pick from, and 16 are coming soon but there haven't been an exact date either. There's no god rotation, you get 5 for free, those are - Ra the sun god, Ymir the frost giant, Kali which is hindu god of death, Artemis and Wu Kong. They're classed similarly to other mobas. Some are melee/ranged assassins, other tanks and other pure dps casters.

Now the bad things

You can buy a god for 5.5k ingame currency, called favour. However, you get 50-70 favour per game. Good news is that there's not that much (yet) so I guess that's why it's so expensive (Hi-Rez lowered the price of Tribes' stuff too after people complained that its too much, so there's that to look forward in Smite too) and you get 1k favour per level. There are 2 queues. Novice queue which is available till you go level 6 (and be able to afford one god for yourself) and after that you can only do normal queue. The bad thing is that novice queue is full of Lol and Dota rejects who intermingled with Cod/Halo children. They're the worst of the worst, and you will probably be put down by them. Hopefully, whether you win or not, you get to level 6 fairly fast, 6-8 games and you're done.


Ah, it's closed beta, but I have one free refferential key, so I can give it out under the condition that you will play with me (you don't have to though, just you know, it's better with smarter people) and then you'll give out at least one key to people here (you'll get 2 friend invites yourself). How does that sound? :P

See a pattern? Welcome to the birth of a new genre. It's not because you don't like it that they're all the same. Smite seems particularly different on top of that, to the extent that you must be blind to think it's similar.

Ehh... MNC/SMNC isn't really the same thing. I mean, there's bots, and towers, and a nexus, but there's no jungle, no creep camps, players move at stupid fast quake speeds, more focus on shooting, less focus on abilities.

This is a lot more like playing LoL in first person.

Been playing for a couple of days now. It's pretty good, surprisingly similar to LoL. Some balance- issues though, Artemis for instance is pretty powerful.

We should form some 5-man games

Carries are normally able to pull that off in good hands. I'd argue Artemis' learning curve isn't as severe as other characters probably, but I don't think she's necessarily much more powerful.

Until today you could only play with 3 people in a party. Today they upped it to 5, but you can only have 5man premades, no less no more. So there's that too.

I've only played one real match, got utterly destroyed playing as Ra. When I get enough favor points, I think I'm gonna get Vamana. Or maybe He Bo, if only because he hits like a Mack Truck with an ICBM strapped to the front. Doesn't do much else, but he does have a slow and an escape (If you want to waste his ult for the purpose of escaping, at least)

He Bo is an odd character. He's a mage that must cast up front to deal any real damage. His Q(1) can deal up to 1k damage late game, and his Ult wave is amazing when it ACTUALLY hits anything. Ra is almost exacly like Lux while Ymir for example, is a mix between Anivia and Nunu. The new god, Quan Yu is said to be OP, but while he is incredibly good in proper hands, he seems to be counterable so it's not that bad. Hades however is a mixed bag. He's suppossed to be a tanky support but I don't know. His design is cool however.

Her kit is pretty extreme for an AD carry(3 forms of CC = tons of utility in teamfights + on-demand steroid), the fact that her learning curve is low just amplifies it. Her only glaring weakness is the lack of innate escape- capabilities, which can be partially mitigated by purchasing abilities.

No, I find her to be a monster. She's an assassin, so you have to jump them from behind. Her ult is amazing against everyone that's not made of bricks, and her 3rd skill, I think is the one, allows her to get her HP back up to 80% if she's in the midst of enemies. And once she starts following you with her ult on you're a goner. You really have to also keep her in the jungle loaded with damage/armor/health/mana buffs.

Vamana and Arachne can both spank her until she cries, but otherwise yeah. Worse for her is that Arachne is also a jungler, is better at it, and will almost assuredly be coming to gank you/counterjungle before you've cleared your jungle.

It counts as a jungle, you have creeps that spawn in them, and occasionally you multiple farmers battling each other in there.


I'd like to know what UT game you've been playing where alt fires for weapons deploy turrets, cloak, propel you in the air/through walls, enrage/berserk, snare, or tornado.

Multiplayer Online Battle Arena. A catch-all term for any DOTA like game, usually with the elements of player characters of a chosen type progressing each match off minions and creeps (and ganks) while trying to smash towers and eventually the other team's base thing. It's basically become its own genre because of the countless implementations possible.

It's worth noting that MOBA's aren't all Dota-like. Bloodline champions for example is a moba too, and survival project, an old moba game that isn't even hosted was a moba too. Basically an arena where people beat the crap out of each other.

Both. Especially the second, there is no way to play any game without a premade group and actually have guaranteed fun.
