    Adding squad members via upgrades

Hi, I'm following the Grand how to v2 and am making a command squad for the allies.
Now, I would like to have it so you can add either a radioman, medic or engineer to the squad via the upgrade menu, and you can only pick one.
    Help please?

    Thanks,
    Draz.

Look in Upgrades/Axis_PE/Upgrade_Squad_Size then take a look into the actions, you can see the modifiers/modifierssquadsize and it adds a man to the squad but not a specific entity, I think it adds an extra soldier who's entity is already a part of the squad...

The more entity types are in a squad, the more men will be added. Let's say, for instance, you have a squad with the Rifle Sergeant, Riflemen, and an Engineer. If you got a 'squad size +1' upgrade, you'd have to reinforce one of each type to fully reinforce the squad (something I discovered when trying to add men to modified PE squads).

Yep, Volsky is right. The modifier goes through each entity available in the squad_loadout_ext. I guess Relic discovered that too when creating the Panzergrenadiers, and therefor they didn't use the panzer_grenadier_leader.rgd.

I beg your pardon if I simply don't get the point but:

Does that mean that nobody discovered a way to add a entity type to a squad? I still have plans to add an vet_sgt to a bunch of the infantry squad types by purchasing the upgrade_vet_sgt.rgd once right after fixing some other things in my own little mod...

There is simply no modifier or action to do that. The only way to add an extra squad member is to make the base squad use only 1 type of entity. Though it might be possible by ScAR, but that would be rather difficult, even if it's possible.

    Thx Celestial,

well... that's a pity cause then my idea makes no sense at all. If they already have a vet_sgt, they won't need to have a second one...

One of my biggest annoyances actually.
I'd like nothing more than to add a visual sergeant to the vanilla PE squads, but...

You could make 2 squads and have the vet sgt upgrade just replace the smaller squad with the bigger one that haves the sgt in it. There def is a squad replacment action. I use it on tanks. Should work on inf squads aswell.

That sounds interesting... Do you remember it's actual name or a vanilla or modded unit that uses an example of this action?

Just add a slot item that triggers a state change or whatever, and have the radio/heal/repair abilities require the slot item.
