Armour angling?

    Armour angling?

Just read about the fact that angled armour can deflect shells much better and wonder if this is included in CoH. So, does it makes a difference if I angle my tank (either the left or the right front corner of the hull pointing towards enemy gun)?

Not at all. CoH uses simple modifiers against certain target types to calculate the chance of penetration. The only difference is frontal and rear armor, more information about that below.

thx Celestial. I guessed so, good to know for sure. And nice link, didnt know that distance plays a role in penetration in CoH.

Btw, I have the feeling that the StuG bounces more shells when hit at the front than the PzIV. Is there a difference between StuG and PzIV armour in that regard? I see that they have different armour stats ("armour_stug", "armour_panzer") ...

Yes, the StuG is very bouncy from the front, however it has no turret and therefor easily flanked. This is the reason why the StuG is so strong frontally. Most tank guns have weaker penetration against the StuG armor type than against the Panzer IV.
