its done with a 3d program, where you have to make the models for you knife. then attach it to the soldier, and export.

if you already have a knife model ingame, you have to code the weapons position into a abp file.
then make a new weapon in the attrib files, in the solder EBP find combat\hardpoints\hardpoint_01\weapon_table\weapon_01 and write the position there to the weapon in the attrib files: Weapons\

I believe he's talking about having it like gear, not as a weapon.

As Codiex explained, the model would need to be made in some form of 3d program and exported in a way to suit its useage ingame. Now if this is just an attached mesh model ( like accessories), you normally try and find a bone relative to where the new model will fit so it moves with the intended mesh of the soldier ( eg. if its head gear, you'd use the head bone etc.) So if your knife is being attached around the waist, you might use the pelvis or another relative bone in that position, if it where attached to a leg strap, then you'd find one of the leg bones that best suit it. You add this same bone name to your mesh ( by creating a new bone with same name and have the mesh attached/or skin modifier to the bone in your knife model) So when its exported it will automatically attach the mesh to the soldiers bone in question, but then you will need to use Object Editor to alter the rgo of the unit to add conditions for how or when you want the new model accessory to show up, along with some rgd editing sometimes ( ABP etc.) to also have the new attachment work properly. Relics Chunky Viewer is a good tool so you can get the bone names ( if you havent extracted any soldier rgm files). Theres probably some areas I havent gone fully into as its not always this cut and dry to get things to work. Doing it the first time like anything is or can be difficult and frustrating at times. Try to see if theres any tutorials or vid tutorials on this procedure, I wouldve thought by now there would be some available as they'd gone into greater detail than what I've mentioned here. All ive really done is mentioned the areas that are needed, which doesn't really help with the finer details for first timer attempts.
