COH doesn't work

I just bought the Company of Heroes Game of the Year edition and I started up the game and it said i needed to download a patch. I clicked download and after 5 seconds of it on the download bar it said "download failed, returning to the main menu. Please try again later." I tried a few more times but it still doesn't work. I am frustrated because it feels like I wasted money on this game. I then checked the forums, but I have no idea what patch to download or where to go. Please help.

I checked out the website, but I am not sure which patches to use or even how to download them.

If you post a Warnings.log, we can see what patches you need.

Curiously, where did you download the game from? If it was from Steam or another similar platform, I would have thought they'd automatically patch the game up.
