Drache and Unit Icon questions

    Drache and Unit Icon questions

I remember that JointOps mod used a Fa 223 Drache model during one of it's scripted missions. I was wondering if it could be located as a unit and then made into a controlable unit; I wanted to use it in my mod (which is centered in Italy in 1943-44; perfect for a Mussolini script or just as a unit) and didn't know how to access the unit since Corsix cannot open JointOps mod to edit it.

I'm also curious about any unused or uncommon unit icons that aren't a part of BK mod or EF mod; maybe a lesser known mod. I wanted some Italian-looking icons (equal in 'rank' to a Rifleman or the corrected Volks icon [the Gren icon in vcoh]) that wouldn't step on the toes of another modder and lable my mod as a copy of someone else's work. Many thanks.

The drache isn't animated to be a unit if I remember correctly, but I could be 100% wrong. AFAIK, it only had an up animation and a down animation. However, if someone is feeling ambitious they can take a look at it again, but the big issue is getting it to ignore obstacles and pathfinding.

i mean the best implementation is going to be a glider type unit that has a 'take off' ability to use on the grounded ebps. how you would get that to usefully function in a vCOH environment not quite sure though

Well the Drache has two animated states, one for landing and one for taking off. However these states cannot be used simultaneously in any way, I tried that for hours a year ago. You'd have to work with two ebps' files to make it work like how I did:

But having areal units to work as controllable units is just not going to work properly with the CoH engine. There are many reasons for that, including proper pathfinding, making them hover when idle (or with planes make them circle) and so on..

Areal units can only be used when bound to an ability.

Hmmm. Could you upload a file with a henschel like ability involving the Drache (with the files for the drache, ofc) where it would hover over the selected area and fire at them with an MG42? It would resemble what it did in JointOps, but instead of shooting at anything in the landing area, it would actively move around and shoot at crap? I hate to request something, but I'm still new to the more complicated processes of intricate abilities. Many thanks Celestial!
