Creating a simple modification Soulstorm game.

    Hello to all readers.

I plan to make a simple mod to the SS.
But I am totally green in this area.
I want to have my bases during the campaign as a defense.

    Help to me be useful.

I have quite little modding knowledge, but maybe you're even more inexperienced on modding than I am.

Maybe I am being uberidiculously redundant, but be sure of getting yourself comfortable using Corsix' Mod Studio. Not like I did *still learning the basics, even after years of getting involved with DoW mods*. You can never be too good using Corsix' Mod Studio

Also, if I understood correctly, you want... to keep your built bases in the campaign when defending territories, Dark Crusade-style?
Some people asked for that already, but I do not recall the answer given to them. The little I know indicates it's on a rather complicated area however, as the campaign mode is one of the least modified areas of the game, mostly due to the numerous restrictions (not necessarily technical though).

Yes, you understand correctly, and I have to Corsix 'Mod Studio.
I have to know which file is responsible for this action.
    Then I'll handle everything miself.
And then I have more plans!

Those things you try to achieve ("to keep your built bases in the campaign when defending territories, Dark Crusade-style") is not possible to do by using Corsix' Mod Studio, otherwise it would have been done long ago.

The only known way to reproduce this DC-feature in SS -> Is to fully code all "saving-restoring" functionality in additional embeddable scripts. You should read this topic for start http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?191909-SS-minimod-Metamap-Revamp-(Persistent-Bases-Fix)-Mod-Beta-Available-Now! And that mod was never finished by the way, and the techniques used by Incarnate is far from "simple"

Jones is right, it would either require some serious coding of a 'Automated Map Save' or recoding the actual campaign. Good luck with it.

(Before you get ideas, NEVER EVA copy code from the DC engine to put in SS Engine. If you do it you will have destroyed your SS forever.)

And is it possible to run the Mission Editor through Corsix. I think it should, but how?

Isn't retaining your buildings for defenses a bonus from defeating one of the races from the game? I forget which one, I think Sisters of Battle give you the forward bases ability iirc.

Yes you are right, but still only the basic structures. 1 barrack, 1 armory, 4 generators, 4 turrets, for Dark Eldar 2 slave cages instead 4 turrets, and for Tau the building where the kruts hiring. That's all.
