Anyone know how to get ahold of Santos?

    Anyone know how to get ahold of Santos?

    We are having trouble with 3ds max, particularly adding new bones and exporting animations made with the new bones. The existing tutorials do not address the problem. We need a 3ds max expert for some Q and A time on steam chat.

    Or perhaps Horus or Shuma will return...?

    I know Santos! We talk to each other everyday. What is it that you need?
    I may be mistaken but i don't belive our freindly tool creator is that skilled a programmer, once he does a write up on the "format" (hope thats the right word), somone else with the coding knowlage will come along and do he work there. Don't look at me for it though, don't know a sasuage about programming, would like to learn but...- Carl

    Yea to correctly export animations you need havok tools installed and recognized by 3dsmax. When you go to export animation, it will bring up the havok tools export options box, run configurations, and you having working hkx files.

    Bloodravage, J. Honnaker and I have been wracking our brains trying to figure out how to do the following (I'll just repost the PM description from Bloodravage):

    "Alright so ill do my best to explain the exact situation I am having difficulty with in getting these weapons to set up properly. After looking at the animations for other weapon attachments, it is apparent that most weapons have 2 or 3 bones used for rotation for aiming. One for horizontal, one for vertical, and some have a 3rd used for 'aiming'. When adding 2-3 new bones to an existing animation, I have added these bones in under rigs and tracks, and tried exporting the animation. The result in the model editor is an animation file with zero tracks attached to it."

    "Overall, it seems like the main problem im having is getting animations to export properly and save the tracks attached to it. The other issue is with the animations that have a 3rd bone used as what is reffered to as 'aim'. This animation from what ive seen, lasts about 1/4 of a second, and to me, i havent seen anything actually moving. Looking at the curve editor, it just shows straight lines with no movement on rotation, position, and scale. What is this, whats it used for, and how do you re-create such an animation without importing and/or making a copy of another, which probablywouldnt work anyway since the position wouldnt match."

    Now, we must get past this issue or we cannot have our beloved pintle weapons, and animating new Demons and such would be out of the question too. Santos, can you help us here? Lupus had a similar problem with the new Eldar stuff he sent me, but he was eventually able to get the new bones to animate. I haven't been able to talk to him since, though. He's busy and hasn't been modding lately.

    Can you see any warnings in Havok Content Tools log when exporting? Something like "Warning : Animations with less than 8 frames cannot be compressed" maybe?

    Yea im running into this issue Santos. Ive increased the number of frames to 9 and it was still giving me that error.

    Delta compression requires animation to have at least 8 frames, but the warning message doesn't say the most important thing - frames need to differ! That is, if you put a key on frame 1 and copy it eight times, animation still won't export. However if you turn on Auto Key and rotate one bone on frame 8, export will succeeded, because now you have 8 distinct keys (first key, last key and all interpolated keys between them). Hope this helps.
