Oh god. Im sorry wallet.
Edit: NOOOOooo i bought Shogun2 last week at full price T.T
I was playing around with Steam screenshots when I noticed a message from the Summer Camp group. I had forgotten I ever belonged to that, and there they were announcing the return of the Steam Summer Sale. Ever since they started the summer and holiday sales, I've always given in and bought something. Always.
Crusader Kings II is 75% off. That is tempting me already, purely based on what I read about it here in the lounge.
Interesting new "Vote-for-a-sale" and "flash sale" concepts. Steam is perfecting the art of defeating inhibition.
Nothing really I'm interested in for today's deals, but those flash deals will keep my busy for a while I suppose...
edit: scrap that prior statement, Nexus Jupiter incident is on sale, I've waited a LOOONG time for this moment...^^

Can't decide to buy Crusader Kings II or Grimrock... Which one is the better deal? Anyone?
Make no mistake. War is coming. With all it's glory, and all it's horror...
That really depends on your preferences, I got a shitload of fun out of Grimrock and can strongly reccommend it. Despite me not owning CKII (or being much interested in it) I can see why it will probably entertain you a lot longer if you are into that sort of games.
It Has Begun *said in Sacrifice "end of the world" mage voice of course*
Seems that they pinched GOG's idea of doing voted for deals, so that will give us a tiny idea of what will come on the next day. The flash deals I dislike - mostly because it breeds the idea that I must remain glued to my computer the whole time! Dailies, well from today's offering the only games I want are Portal 2 and Shogun 2 - sadly my computer can't run either (well I'm assuming this, neither has demos....).
Also big tips for Steam Sales:
1) Shop using your browser, not the steam launcher. Every time there is a summer sale the launcher gets hammered to bits and becomes unreliable. Browser use of the store is generally more stable (this is especially the case when you're confirming a transaction to purchase 5 mins before the timer runs out)
2) Don't buy anything that isn't a daily deal or a flash deal until the very last day. Any game can end up on a daily deal so, if you can check it once a day at least then do so until the final day - then you'll at least know all the games you want to get have had a chance to be on the daily.
3) The last day's deals are normally a recap of the popular choices from the previous daily deals.

crusader kings 2, the custom ruler maker, and also all the shogun DLC. IN THE BAG!
I hope Dayz... erm I mean Arma 2 gets a better deal than this lousy 20%, might get it than as well.
Ahaha thats what im hoping gets a better sale too xDI hope Dayz... erm I mean Arma 2 gets a better deal than this lousy 20%, might get it than as well.
Anyone looking to buy ARMA2 or DayZ. go check the DayZ thread on page 7 or the cheap games thread.
Its £20 on steam or £15 from another website. I brought the £15 version which can be used on steam.

Just bought up the rest of the Crusader Kings II DLCs. So nice of Steam to put them on sale right after release.

Oh gods.
*buys Portal 2 and all the Shogun 2 and CK2 DLC*
This is only the beginning.

I am getting paid again on Friday.
This will not end well. Having money during a Steam sale for once, that is.

I can't decide if Red Faction Armageddon or The Darkness 2 is cheap enough for me to care about it yet or not. This is how most of these sales go for me, and I only end up getting one or two things.
My Interceptor is better than your Interceptor.

Bought Crusader Kings II. The thread here in the lounge has been a great read and getting everything 75% off is too good to pass on. I own everything else that grabs my interest... so CKII and DLC will be all for today.

Throwing this link here for people who want to see more then the steam's high profile games price reduction. Hidden Gems of Summer Sale 2012
Grabbed Magicka with all the DLC, anyone want some Dolt co-op fun?
Looking through the other sales, so tempted to buy more....

I'm glad Valve has finally ditched the meta-game idea from the sale. I always found that as a cheap ploy to get people to buy more games than they actually wanted.
@Ewokz: Already have all but the last DLC (forget the name). Just ring me up on Steam if you'd like a shot at it.

Starblade: You might want to keep checking back; Red Faction is only 33%, so it might get a daily deal later on (or a flash deal or something) that knocks it up to 50-75% off before the sale's over. (Dunno about Darkness II, Red Faction Armageddon's on my wishlist which is mostly a list that I check during the big sales to see if the games I want are cheap enough that I'll actually buy 'em.)
My wallet, i think my wallet vaporized... some where some how. I was I was buying portal 2 then i end up getting saints row the third.

There was a flash of light and a puff of smoke, and just like that I owned XCOM, The Witcher, Sins of a Solar Empire Trinity...
Just when I said I wasn't going to buy anything else for a while they decide to go and have the steam sale...
Picked up Shogun 2 Fall of the Samurai. Not seeing anything else today that's a must have that I don't already own.
Xbox Live/GFWL/Relic Online/Steam: Saberdark
I can't believe I have resisted thus far, though to be fair I haven't seen anything that's really piqued my interest. If Trine 2 gets selected and I'm awake during that time it might be my first buy.

There IS one new thing in this sale: Badges. Go to your profile view and look in the right-hand column. Fear my mighty 7 Years of Service badge. FEAR IT.
I would have bought Sins of a Solar Empire : Rebellion and Legends of Pegasus but they are not on sale unfortunately.
I just realised that steam has a mobile version of the webpage that makes browsing it a lot more convenient. I fear I'll spend more money now than I'd have expected because I'll regularly check the flash deals...
Welp, I've just snagged crusader kings 2 collection pack, doesn't have the recent dlc, but not a issue, has the rest plus base gain, ossum.
Well, I just bought Legend of Grimrock and the Trine Collection.
Any dolts here fancy some Trine (2) co-op?
I would recommend Nexus: Jupiter Incident. Please bear in mind that this game is rather old.
Srsly wtf! (flash deal is over for that) Deus Ex: HR +all DLC and Portal 2 for under 20 Bucks. How can I not buy that? HOW! TELL ME!
What is this? I don't even...
funny thing.... in the thq pack..
why is the last standalone part of the package that includes retribution?! you get the former included already if you get the latter anyway? XD

Arx Fatalis, from £2.99 to £1.12. Yoink.
Oddly enough, I never knew about this game before someone (can't remember who) linked a fascinating read in my AAA Games Development thread.
yes i tooo was flacked by the sale I bought the Deus Ex Pack with all the Deus Ex games and the strange thing is i haven't even played DEus Ex: Human Revolution
Any other Cyberpunk games coming out i know of Syndicate thats coming to pc ???
Edit:: and there was even a sale of C&C Tyberium wars and Kane's Wrath and i was thinking Yes yes yes i can buy them on steam BUT I WAS OUT OF MY BLOODY MONEY GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR Donderse deksels en granaten..
so I voted for Trine 2 and then I actually bought Trine 2.
I'm such a good person.

Damn... I finally fell to Steams Sale tempations - first time ever I bought something on Steam Sale... but I just couldn't resist DX HR Missing Link and the Jedi Knight Package... must... have... dark forces...
If I wasn't that much into Boxes on my shelves, I'd be out of money already.
Damn, want Rebellion...
No matter - it's still stellar graphics wise - not to mention gameplaywise.I would recommend Nexus: Jupiter Incident. Please bear in mind that this game is rather old.

I already have every LucasArts game ever; I think that was the first Summer Sale I ever participated in. Woe is my willpower.
Also, the Trine Franchise for £3.49, 'bought time I got these games. I've only spent £11.78 so far and I don't intend on spending much more.
Darksiders won't be reduced beyond £5, so I won't get that just yet (how is it still £20? I'll wait for Darksiders II and the inevitable sale then), and the only other thing I'm eyeing up is the £36 Activision Collection. I want half of those games and I don't think I actually own any of them.
EDIT: HERRO STEAM, NICE INTERFACE BUGZ:
EDITEDIT: caved and bought the Activision Collection. My poor wallet
On the other hand, I now have Prototype, War for Cybertron (physical copy was stolen at Christmas), TimeShift, VAMPIRE THE MASQUERADE (at last) and the early CoD games (y'know, the favourites). And a coupla others but eh the above games are more than worth £36 to me.
Oh if only Rez and Eden could be released for PC...
On the upside, yay more Cities in Motion DLC for cheap! Bwaha. Now eyeing all those LEGO Traveler's Tales games...
-Stefan-
Nothing of interest for me so far, but I am hoping for Civ: Gods & Kings to go on sale.
#45
Bit close to it's release, no?
That said, that would be the one other thing I would get during this sale.
#46
Second-hand Steam accounts seem to have increased in "value" again, guess it's those worthless badge icons? Good move by Valve Corp. then.
One step closer to the end of the decadent Eldar race.

Still very tempted by Tau Commander for DoW2 Retri, and would love SoaSae: Reb to come down, though it's brand new so unlikely.
A few of you seem to have picked up Crusader Kings 2- make sure to drop by the thread and share your tales of low cunning and spouse murder!
@Gorb: It's close, but it's an expansion to a not so new game, so if Civ V goes on sale as it did at Christmas, there's a chance the xpac will be available cheaper too.
#49
Civ 5 is 50% down to £9.99, and Gods and Kings is 10% down to £17.99. I'd still get it from amazon, or wait and see if there is a daily deal.
Disappointed by the lack of a good Civ V pack.
You should check out Priority Vox Channel Secundus, a blog!
Yeah, waiting for daily deal, 17.99 is what I would normally pay for a hard copy here in Poland.
