Wee Renegade Ops as a flash sale! Totally worth $3.74.
#102
Flash Deal, $5. Totally worth it for the co-op.
#103
I used to have money like you, then I took a Steam sale to the wallet. Now just to spite me, when they run the holiday sale, Skyrim will be like 60% or more off. Although, 50% off for a game out less than a year with DLC incoming for the PC is still pretty good.
AKA: LoneStranger, lonestranger or some other variant.
#104
Just bought the shit out of Renegade Ops. A good deal.
My Interceptor is better than your Interceptor.
#105
To Skyrim or not to Skyrim? That is the question.
Graduated, and need to make something of myself...
Seriously?
KOTOR was an easy buy. I got it second hand a long time ago, it's about time I bought it for real.

Alan wake was 75% on a flash sale, now its a vote for the Community Choice.![]()
And I still got it at 50%... I'm such a genius hahaAlan wake was 75% on a flash sale, now its a vote for the Community Choice.

For those who are interested, Alan Wake is great for story and atmosphere. Mechanics could be better; it's no Max Payne, but seriously, worth every penny, and I got the DLCs because I preordered the PC version.
If you're not the story kind of gamer, don't get it.
The Witcher 2 is 60% off (highest I've ever seen it). If you have not yet played this, get the bloody game. It's the best RPG in years.

I am an Iron Warrior! Iron Within, Iron Without!
Just so happens that TW:EE is 75% off on Steam too
EDIT: Both seemingly are part of the flash sale, which ends in a little under 4:30 hours.

@ Gorb
AC1 is a bit repetitive, and isn't that great. Altair's story is quite important but nothing dealbreaking. In fact, I would recommend playing AC2 as an entry into the series. If you need background after AC2 go on Assassin's Creed wiki and read up the plot of AC1 and the intervening stuff between AC1 and 2.
Seriously, they learned so much from the first game, and it shows. I've replayed AC2 a few times now, same with Brotherhood and even restarted Revelations, but I never bothered with AC1.
And alternatively, I'd suggest you play AC1 first so you can realize how far the series gets dragged off target with AC2 and it's annoying protagonist and even bigger plot asspulls. The only thing AC2 did that I cared for had to be the refinements to gameplay and the city improvement stuff.
Also Anno 2070 needs to drop to about $10. Then I can justify buying it for the future despite not having a computer capable of playing it now.
Those Halcyon Days...
#115
Huh? Like what? You can throw in spoiler tags if you want to have this discussion.
Besides, up until Revelations, the story is primarily about Altair, Ezio and the Assassins vs Templars. Desmond is barely covered till Revelations.
#116
I like to play things in order, but thanks for the recommendations anyhow!
Also, damn you FriendlyFire. I haven't caved and gotten The Witcher 2 yet, but I picked the first game (£1.74. Really, willpower? Really?) and Frozen Synapse.
YOU SHALL CAVE IN.
Seriously, it's that good.![]()
Witcher 2 is truly amazing. I do not have words for that game. Whatever sale price it's going for now - it needs to be played.
Evolve or Die...I choose to evolve.

Even though Brotherhood is the best game in the series, it is really, really obvious that Brotherhood and Revelations (and the handheld games about Altair nobody played) are cash-ins based on how popular Ezio was with everyone. Annoying if you actually care about the overall plot of the series, but other than that nothing important. Honestly, I think the series would be improved if they never mentioned that again, though. I'd rather just have the games set in whatever time period, I don't care about their framing device.Besides, up until Revelations, the story is primarily about Altair, Ezio and the Assassins vs Templars. Desmond is barely covered till Revelations.
The first and last couple hours are like swift repeated kicks to the balls, though. Especially the first, before you get the backstab damage reduction.Witcher 2 is truly amazing. I do not have words for that game.
Did you try it since the 2.0 and EE patches? I hear they've dramatically overhauled the balance (and added a tutorial with a difficulty-weighting arena at the end of it) to make it less of a steep learning curve.
Been meaning to play through it again but time is short![]()
#121
Saints Row The Third, From Dust, Assassins Creed Revelations purchased so far, and I got specc meherin last week on sale, and LA noire on sale the week before.
#122
I bought the game after those were released. The beginning and end (well, one fight at the end, to be fair), and Letho are pretty tough. Letho especially if you don't get the gimmick, after which it's just annoying. I found myself actually missing Witcher 1's group style.Did you try it since the 2.0 and EE patches? Sigh, I knew I was going to regret buying a Ubisoft game....
.... always on DRM uplay is down -_-

I'm considering the Batman franchise flash sale. I have Arkham Asylum and City (but not through Steam), but not the DLC with new maps and characters. Not sure I want to spend much money on Gotham City Impostors, however. A game that's not free-to-play offering "Quintuple experience" DLC doesn't look very encouraging, and Metacritic reviews say it has crap matchmaking. Anyone who has it care to weigh in on whether it's worth spending money on?
Winter is coming.
#126
Holy crap, 81% off the Batman Arkham Franchise, I would not skip that deal ever.
#127
I have both the base games.
Time for ze DLC.
@FriendlyFire: LA NOIRE WAS CHOSEN, YOU LUCKY SOD.
EDIT: What's Civ IV: Colonisation like? Is it required to get the full benefit of Civ IV's modding scene?
I played Assassin's creed II on the 360, loved it, same with Brotherhood, never played the first one or Revelations. Anyway, i would recommend them, UNLESS, they still have the horrible DRM in which case i would recommend staying away from them just out of principle. My only complain about the games is that they're way too easy.
Anyway, only thing i've bought was Dark Souls Prepare to Die edition, but it wasn't on sale, so i guess it's irrelevant to this thread.
@Assassins Creed
I think this is the first time I ever heard someone saying 1 is better than the 2-and-another parts. The Ezio Trilogy is amazing... and Revelations, even though I haven't beat it yet since I finally got a job, manages to evoke that oriental feeling I liked most about AC1 very well while still meshing it with everything I loved about AC2 and Brotherhood. The only thing I find disturbing is this whole "Ezio is still ZEE ladies man even with 60".
@Arkham City
Damn you, Steam... DAMN. I didn't get it on steam so I am basically locked out from the DLC deals if I don't buy it again... DAMn.
EDIT: After checking - the ones that interest me I either already have - through preorder or lucky glitches in GfWL Marketplace making them 0 bucks for a day or so. So it's down to harley's revenge - and if I buy AC and the DLC, I am paying more than I would for just the DLC on GfWL... so no, no deal.
@Community Vote
*waves hand jedi-style* You shall vote for legend of grimrock so I get it for an even lower price then it already is.

Ended up taking the bait on Batman. Uniting all that stuff on Steam has some utility advantages, plus the DLC, and buying just the Arkham series actually still costs more. Even if I end up not playing Impostors, I guess I can't complain about paying effectively negative amounts of money for it.
Also Tropico 4. I've always enjoyed the series, and for the release of 4 finally got around to picking up the 3rd installment, which was great. Hope this one will live up to its legacy.
#131
I'm holding strong. I want skyrim, dead island and LA Noire but have bought nothing... primarily as I still have witcher 2, batman city and brutal legend to play through and am somewhat burned out having spent 130 hours on Xenoblade Chronicles. Still.. skryim...
#132
yeah, Civ 5 is the best its gonna get at the moment. Even gods and kings has only a few quid's difference from amazon... I'd say go for it.
You should check out Priority Vox Channel Secundus, a blog!
I'm looking at Steam now and I don't want to play any of these games but I WANT TO BUY THEM
About the only one for me so far that looked appealing was Space marine but I already completed it on the PS3. bleh. Have already or completed most of the other games im interested in so unless something comes along that I wouldnt mind playing at a super cheap price ill wait until the chrismas sale.
#135
Bagged myself Arkham City as well. After reluctantly spending £50 on train tickets I told myself I would keep Steam on permanent closure until the sale ends. That didn't happen.
#136
Hmmm. Grabbed the Frozen Synapse Complete Pack. Gifted the extra copy to a friend. Bought said friend the Red Faction DLC as well. Now I would like to buy the game and DLC for my other friend. Thing is, every purchase comes with an extra copy of the base game and sadly, I have no one else I can think of to send the spare copy to.
Long story short: who wants a free copy of Frozen Synapse? The only Dolts I have on my friend list at present are Nuri and Mirage Knight.
Edit: I'm highly confused at the moment because my gift inventory is acting up. I think I have an extra copy to gift, but the interface is being a bit odd. If I don't end up with the extra copy to gift I apologise. If I do, someone here will be getting it....
Edit the Second: What a stupid fucking way of working it. I sent stuff to one friend and Steam kept the items in my gift inventory. Not realising that this is what was going on initially, I gifted those same items to a different friend. Now who are they going to? I assume the newer overrides the older? Bah. I am so confused.

@FriendlyFire, you'll be happy to know the framing device is probably gone after AC3 (since it'll be ending Desmond's story anyways.)
And, playing through Revelations now, I kind of like how this one handles it. Seems to work a lot better than in parts 2 and 3 since Desmond's actually getting a decent personality. Ezio's gameplay has hardly changed since Brotherhood though.
#138
@Phoenix
Well, of course Ezio has to be the ladies' man, he's got all that experience under his belt, he's so enigmatic, and wise, AND most importantly he needs to have children so that his DNA can be passed on. After all, Ezio is Desmond's ancestor, the whole premise of the Animus.
I thought AC2 trilogy>>> AC1. In all aspects.
Got Arkham City DLC, all except the skins (I don't care for skins really except for DOW2 I guess...) Got LA. Noire as well, couldn't resist that price tag. The disappointment being that I can't troubleshoot KOTOR too easily on my 64 bit Windows 7, it crashes to desktop after the Lucasarts logo. Internet isn't too forthcoming as of yet, but I've not really had time to try everything.
#139
KotOR works fine on my computer, has done ever since I got it on Vista 32-bit (7 Professional 64-bit now). Odd that it would crash; have you run all the usual Steam troubleshooting tips (verifying integrity of game cache, etc)?
Thanks everyone - got Legend of Grimrock for the vote price and penumbra complete pack on top of it for 75% off... now on to waiting for amnesia and rebellion to come down in price...
#141
@Gorb
Literally just installed it overnight and run kotorpatch. I've not got internet right now for my laptop, currently sitting in the computer centre, will attempt to troubleshoot it when I get back to London tomorrow.
#142
What's the "kotorpatch"? Could be the source of your issues (as KotOR is Steam-based and thus patched?).
#143
Well, I read on steam forums that it doesn't automatically update, so I updated it. This was in an attempt to resolve my crash to desktop issues...
YYYYYYYEEEEESSSS! Walking Dead!
Quoth the raven.... Eat my shorts!
Codex, all your problems are solved with windowed mode. Find swkotor.ini, and under "[Graphics Options]" change "Fullscreen=1" to "Fullscreen=0". Add "AllowWindowedMode=1" to that list too, et voilà! You could run swconfig.exe and disable movies instead, but you lose out on all the cutscenes that way.

Anyone who wanted Anno Domini cheaper, it's one of the voting options this time round.
@Codex:
I found that if you don't skip the intro movies, the game starts normally. Hope it helps.
Also, in properties, disable "allow steam community In-Game"
