How to view maps?

    How to view maps?

How can I view a map - I want to take a full screen top down screenshot of a map.

A lot of the links to the mission editor or either broken or links to earlier versions (DC). The ones I could download won't run, I get a message that its for an earlier version of the game.
    I have DoW Soulstorm 1.20.

    thanks,
    Balkhan

There is no version of the mission editor for Soulstorm, unfortunately. Do you not have a copy of Dark Crusade?

non-Steam game Dawn of War: Nounstorm
Warning: The following is subject to the poster's lack of knowledge in the matter.

Since a map for Dark Crusade will also run on Soulstorm (and viceversa... right?), and I've never heard of a ME for Soulstorm at all, I'd say you give the Dark Crusade ME a shot.
However, I'm not sure if you need Dark Crusade itself installed as well to run its ME (I think yes, but again, I'm not sure), hence the error message you got.

If you do not have Dark Crusade, it is currently on a 33% discount on Steam

Soulstorm has a load of stuff that isn't in Dark Crusade (terrain objects, decals, fx, etc.) so the maps won't necessarily run in Dark Crusade without a load of pink boxes and question marks.

To create Soulstorm maps, what I did was create a mod in Dark Crusade, and copy over all the necessary object/texture/fx files from Soulstorm into that mod so I could use them for mapping, and the completed ones copied back to Soulstorm to be played properly.

Also available on Amazon is this little package. Even though you already have Soulstorm, it's totally worth it for the price.

Back on topic though, I don't know for definite if the mission editor will work without Dark Crusade being installed, but I doubt it. To be honest, since pretty much all the modders and map-makers around here have Dark Crusade anyway it's not really been an issue.

Yes, you need DC to use the mission editor, since it takes all the stuff that it displays from the DC-gamefiles and is so stubborn that you can only open maps that are somewhere inside the DC-root-directory

    @Topic:
    Needed Tools/Things:
    DoW - Dark Crusade
    Dark Crusade Mod Tools
    Corsix' Mod Studio

If it is a map that is included in SS you first got to extract it (brotip: Corsix' Mod Studio)

    Spoiler

put it inside the DC-Folder for maps (for example: Dark Crusade/DXP2/Data/scenarios/mp/)

    Spoiler

and open it with the DC-Mission Editor.

    Spoiler

Last step: press CTRL+F and CTRL+K to toggle Fog and Sky

    Hope it helps!

    The machine is strong.
We have to seperate from the weak, accused flesh and replace it with the pure, holy metal.
We can only triumph with its durability, we can only win with the machine.
Punish the flesh, harden your mind and body.
    Praise the machine!

OK thanks, I had every copy at one time, original - WA - DC but have only kept the SS version.

Yes, it is saying I don't have the version 1.3 DC? of the game so l need Dark Crusade to run the edit tool.

Maybe you could give a try to the AME, it allows a true top view of the map and works with DC and SS.
    See this thread

    Hope this helps.

Lack of sagacity? Download this DLL from google and put in Corsix's directory
