    anyone know.........racebps?

    hello dow modders! i have seven new races in this mod i am working on.

    the mission editor crashes when i try to open the object placement tools.

    it works ok if i delete all references (racebps, abilities, weapons, ebps, sbps, etc) of 6 of the races (ie the gangs..).

    Then the new necromunda race works fine in ME.

    so i deleted all the gangs racebps, and duplicated the working one, then changed all the tables to the way i need them.

    but no joy in the ME.

    the game itself works fine with all races included.

    does anyone know what is going on?

    any help would be appreciated!

    there are no models for the buildings at the end, and the problem is the same with or without them.

    the mod will load (in me) but just shuts down when you press the object placement button......

    At a guess, you don't have your pipeline.ini set up correctly or some really minor pedantic part of your ModTools organised correctly. There's quite a bit of undocumented stuff you have to do, especially with the OE (and I would guess the ME as well).

    I've gotten BFG loading perfectly with custom objects (of all types), so I don't see why your Necromunda can't be sorted out.

    Does your AE load your Necromunda LUA files correctly (assuming you're using LUA -> RGD and not just editing the RGD files)?

    it is not about the object, more about the races folder organization ,which is quite ..."exotic"....
    untilk there is no duplicate rgd in the obgect folder object loads fine.
    the problem lies within some abilities or weapon attrib files calling missing parts or files.

    i'm not sure that is the problem J_L. Mainly because i've had this problem from before any of the weapons or abilities were coded in.

    i've just been editing the rgd files..........



    i've not done any modding in the ae. only corsix

    hmmmmm..... i'm gonna need a bigger team!

    you in gorb? to help with the finer points of corsix/ae?

    I'm afraid I really don't have time at the moment. Maybe in a week or so (mebbe more) I would be able to help you out then. I'm still finishing up my Toolbox (and associated documentation) as an assessed piece.

    It might be because you're not using LUA files that the ME is failing to load the race correctly, I don't know.

    i don't say this out of thin air, this is exactly the error i read miliseconds before the ME crashed with the mod files you sent me, these errors are not recorded anywhere but you can see them if you take a screenshot of your desktop when the ME is crashing, more precisely a screenshot of the maximized debug window. everytime it was related to the escher then goliath then cawdor leaders.

    hmmmmm.......

    editing in the attribute editor has erased ALL RGD files from the mod.

    i removed the races in ae, and it deleted ALL children. everything! whoopsie.

    i have a back up from before the weekend, but i am really slow at doing this. we NEED a attrib. coder!
    any ideas?

    Use LUAs (and burn to RGD).

    RGD editing is risky (dependent on Corsix) and also you don't get the flexibility of working in LUA. Having the LUA files also means you have a backup if something goes wrong :P

    lolz! now i find out!

    *adopts petulant child tone* but it's soooo HAAAAARD!

    still, cracking on with it. i understood how to get things in game in corsix. now nothing works.

    however, if i load up the back up of the mod, can i just dump every thing as lua, then stick it in the data generic folder? i presume not, since there seems to be a lack of metadata.

    is there a way of getting luas with the meta data from rgds?

    at least now it is apparent why the mod did not work in the ME.

    Ah. You jogged my memory.

    Corsix LUA dumps don't provide metadata, as metadata is lost upon conversion to RGD (from LUA) - as is inheritance. You can, however, shove everything back through the AE after dumping to LUA and save all of the files (bit of a tedious affair); this can recreate the metadata, if I recall correctly.

    And yes, the ME does not like objects that do not have metadata defined. I'd forgotten that part of getting BFG working with custom maps . . .

    ah ! the power of team work ! if the ME accept the full mod , with the races included and not only the object folder, this is going to make my mapping life much easier ! to see this issue solved is a very good thing.

    well, it's early days!

    i would hold off on the mapping J_L, i don't know if any of this will work! i am not a fan of coding.
    but when it does, it will be a complete pink box pre-map alpha. so while you design the levels, I can wrap up the 3d stuff.
