Yeah, the Olympics. Obligatory GREAT BRITAIN HOORAH, naturally.
The opening ceremony was, well, stupidly impressive. It wasn't gaudy, it wasn't tacky . . . basically the opposite I've come to expect of my country (EDIT: I have just been informed our athletes' costumes are stupidly tacky, beating Estonia and the Czech Republic in the "idiot outfit" stakes, sadly).
Who else is watching it? Who else will be following it? Who is merely vaguely interested?
More importantly, will Usain Bolt better his world record?
I hope to keep the negative sentiments from my fellow Brits out of it until we have at least gotten past the "ooh, wow, shiny, etc"
