    If homeworld 3 was made; would it have projenitors?

    NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!

    to quote "historical and tactical breifing" in homeworld 1's documentation folder;

    "Toward the lower aft portion of
    the ship lies the large shielded area containing the
    Hyperspace Module. This is a direct copy of the
    one found under the sands of Khar-Toba, but
    expanded twelve-fold to accommodate a vessel of
    the Mothership’s mass."

    this means there are more than 3 hyperspace cores. (each khar tobe must have had one) the kadesh had one because they could use hyperspace.
    and it also means hyperspace cores could be MADE AND DUPLICATED, not to mention modified. i find it more likely that the bentusi developed the technology. they sold it to the taidan. the taidan waged war on the higarans, and sent them into exile. some higarans managed to smuggle hyperspace cores onto their prison ships. (kadesh and kushan). the kushan decided to use the technology to try and return home. the kadesh used the technology to make sure they dont lose their territory again.

    if anything Homeworld 3 should focus on the kadesh. and the new higarans trying to get them to come out of the nebula.

    Yes, it would. I honestly agree with you on most of what you say, and the plot hole you point out is real, but the damage is done and HW2 exists. If there is a HW3 it would probably either be a follow-up, and thus explore the eye of aran and the network it connects to, which is progenitor stuff, or it'd be entirely unconnected/a reboot, and then all bets are off.

    This is all covered in the backstory that was in the strategy guide (but that backstory was not the "final" version even).

    The khartoba had a hyperspace core, but it was a "short jumper" hence the long journey to exile.

    The Khartoba also had the Hiigaran long jumper, one of three.

    I'm not a big fan of the 3 core storyline, would have been simpler had they just been a common technology.

    the ability to make hyperspace cores would make sense. as the quote from the document implies smaller cores would work for smaller ships. so each capital class ship had a smaller, less powerful one.

    Some retcons work, some don't. This one IMO does not work well. That does bring up the question what kind of story would have worked better for HW2? (In general terms of course). sm

    i think trying to pry the kadesh out of the nebula now that the taidan were on their knees after the events of cataclysm and hw1 would have been a reasonable plot for hw2.
