Those who work in the FX Editor tool probably know that the minimum duration of a,let's say a Ring fx,is 0,1 second. Is there any way of making that number lower?
Maybe making a change in a .lua or a .dll file..any ideas?![]()

why do you want such a low duration ?

maybe play with the opacity. get your texture to go from opaque to transparent over the smallest possible time. dunno what that is though.
M | WS | BS | S | T | W | I | A | Ld
1 || 1. || 1. || 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1
Well...let's just say that if I could get the Ring to last less than 0,1 second,it could be a beginning of a FX evolution for DoW1.
I don't want to spoil anything..
Edit:That won't work in this case.maybe play with the opacity. get your texture to go from opaque to transparent over the smallest possible time. dunno what that is though.
you can get the fx display down to 0.01 through OE.....
I know you want to work in FX tool, but have you thought about the way fx are done in OE as an alternate if you do not find a way to get fix length smaller.
*heads into fx tool.*
What have I been upto?
"I want to be your Jackhammer...
......Why don't you call my name...
.........You'd better call the Jackhammer."
if you are applying a texture to an object you can rotate the object to a side that isnt textured and have it disappear... that would be assuming you are using billboard.
using techniques to make images appear and disappear.
Think old video objects that get animation through rotation... the invis is just showing a surface without the texture?
you can technically cut it down to microseconds as such. Small enough?.
I have had to use this technique in quake 40k to get a special glow effect with missile objects.
pyramid objects are good for this.
Pm or expand on idea here if you want a different type of outcome.
I only vaguely understand your question.
Can you share this FX ?
I might help you with getting effect which you want to achieve
Texture Problem? Icons problem? Any graphic problem? Ask me whatever You want on prv msg or my e-mail futynek@gmail.com!
RT2 that idea is brilliant!![]()
I'm not home at the moment, but I'll be back in a few days and try this method.
@Marlaz Thanks, but I'll do it myself...and if I get it to work,I'll gladly share this with the public ^.^
man remember we are here to yak wit ya.
If you have any problems remember to ask.
also remember we only have one point of view in the engine.
the monitor.....
I wish there could be other clients that would allow multiple displays so you could focus on more then one area of combat at a time, like the X series of games can do.
I alos wish we had a true 3d rotatable minimap so we could track everything much finer.
now the math...
you can get 1 100th of a second and you want to go to 1 1000th of a sec, you need a ten sided object... Basic theory.
rotation can be multipled by having ring in ring. think planets in solar system.
ring 1 rotates x and ring 2 which holds ring 1 rotates y.
a five sided pyramid showing one effect surface for 0.002 rotates inside another rotation reducing the length of the effect to 0.0004.
Man I suck at trying to explain this. :P Lets just say its geometric... :P
Obviously the none basic version. :P
