    DoW SS "Feature Transfer Error"

I used to SS juuuuuust fine on my decent rig, even with the scratched disc, but now it's freakin ridiculous. I just reinstalled Windows 7 onto my PC, and now I cannot install SS. It gets about 75% done, then it says like an asshole would:

    Feature Transfer Error

Feature: Dawn of War - Soulstorm
    Component: DefaultComponent
    File: F\data2.cab
Error: Data error (cyclic redundancy check).

Should I have just left it in C:\ or something? Is THQ mad I didn't put their name on a folder?

WTF I just got the disc buffed at a store... DOES ANY1 know the answer? How do I get this fucking thing to work?

    - - -

    My System:

    AMD Athlon 2 X4 635 Processor 2.90
    4G RAM
    NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT
    Graphics Memory 2302
    DirectX 10

EDIT: DUUUUDE, it's totally working, almost 90% installed as I type this! EDIT: IT'S INSTALLED! YEEEAAAEEEH! This time, I just didn't change a thing about the default directory presented in the installer - I just said, FUCK IT, install to C:\... AND IT'S WORKING!!!!

I'm still bummed out on how gay THQ is, FORCING us simple folk to install this game in their name...

In a state of perpetual confusion.
It has nothing to do with the directory name or install location. Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) errors are due to dirty or scratched disks where the read after write check finds problems. If it worked after multiple attempts it is just that you got lucky. Take better care of your disks.

Yeah as GeoffS said, CRC checks are used to verify the integrity of the data on the disk. If you're getting CRC errors then the data read is different to what the system is expecting it to be, due to unreadable parts or otherwise. Your options are to clean the disk and hope it works, try removing the scratches somehow or to buy a new game.

OK, I torrented a new SS CD, but it's not loading though. I go to mount it, then click on exe, but it says no disc is loaded.

Do I have to uninstall then reinstall, is it like a Registry problem?

    *BUMP*

I torrented the new SS cd, mounted it, get AutoPlay to run, then it says Wrong Disc... wtf?
