    Update

So what does this mod do?

This mod adds footfall effects to almost every Dark Eldar unit. Some of you may have noticed that when Dark Eldar infantry run across a map, they never kick up dirt/snow or cause ripples and splashes in water. Well they do now!

Additionally, vehicles now create a splash in water or a dust cloud on the ground when they're destroyed (including the Dais of Destruction which I finally managed to open in the OE).

    I've also done the following:

    - Fixed a sound bug with the Tortured Slave when its harvesting souls (as identified by the Bugfix mod).
    - Added a sound and blood effect for Hellions capturing strategic points.

So why is this mod not complete?

I'm looking into achieving the same goal with the SOB, so stay tuned.

    Install

Extract the zip to your Soulstorm directory.

Can you grant permission to add this fix into another mods? Like Codexs mod or CCM mod?

Permission granted. Also it doesn't bother me if credited or not.

BTW, what is your approach to WHE editing? Did you use 3d max to get WHE-EBP or Mudflap tools, or Dark40k's FileFormatEditor ?

Initially I use 3ds Max to convert the WHE-EBP and I use Mudflap's WHM-SGM converter (Mudflap's WHE-EBP converter doesn't work well for me). If the OE gives me an error then I use 3ds Max to export the model as an SGM file (which usually takes longer with bone errors and such). I haven't used Dark40k's FileFormatEditor before.

On another note, I've managed to open the Dais of Destruction in the OE so now I can finally finish the DE.

Oh since you have successfully opened the Dais of Destruction, could I request that you make the selection box in the Object Editor match the size of the model, or even be slightly bigger? In my opinion the selection box is far too small especially for a relic unit.

I've always been annoyed by it too. How does that look?

What was the issue in opening it in the OE, and how did you resolve it?

No worries, I'll upload the Dais later.

When I first tried getting the DE units into the OE (this was nearly a month ago) I never used Mudflap's tools. Using 3ds Max I was able to export all the models for the DE units and convert their WHE files successfully, except the Dais which caused the OE to shutdown. Today I tried using 3ds Max only for WHE-EBP conversion and used Mudflap's tools to convert the WHM-SGM. Aside from the Dais appearing purple in the OE, it now works.

On another note, does anyone know how to get sounds working in the OE? Its not necessary to complete my project, but I'd prefer to hear proper sounds instead of that annoying beep noise.

I think you need to extract whatever sounds the model uses into the datageneric folder for your mod. Similar for skins and effects/events.

You using the updated Santos scripts, Reaper R66? I'm not sure which side of the problem they fixed r.e. the Dais, but it was either the import or the export (or both).

Didn't work, if I find a way I'll post it here.

Yeah the updated scripts. I can import it and export it through 3ds Max just fine, but it causes the OE to shutdown unless I use Mudflap's WHM-SGM converter.

Extract sounds to MyMod folder itself, defined in pipeline.ini

Of course the one folder I don't extract sounds to is the one which actually works.

Thanks for the answer, now I can finally bear the sounds of the OE.

In other news, I've uploaded an update for my mod which does the following:
    - Increases the size of the Dais of Destruction's bounding box (as per request)
    - Adds terrain death impact events to the Dais (refer to screenshot in first post)
    - Adds two additional terrain death impact events to the Talos, Raider and Ravager to better suit the size of each vehicle.

No problem. The SOB are coming along quite nicely so far.

    Just a quick update.

I'm aiming to have this mod finished over the weekend; the only SOB units left I need to edit are the Canoness, Immolator, Rhino and Exorcist. However, I'm going to go back and tweak the DE infantry to match the current quality of the SOB, so I'll upload all the finished files as one complete package when that's all done.

Looking really awesome so far. Seems like something that should go into the Bugfix mod.

    Couple of quick questions:

    1) What files will be included in the final download? Is it just the .whe and .whm files?
    2) Are you using the fixed versions of these files from the Bugfix mod as a base? Missionary, Ecclesiarchal Servitor and Tortured Slave are the relevant ones, I think.

    1) Just the whe. files. Sometimes when I export models I have to adjust bone weights or delete parts of the models just to get them to export properly, which leads to deformations and other oddities in the OE. Luckily the modified .whe files work with the vanilla .whm files so they all appear fine in-game.

    2) I've incorporated the fixes for each of those units, but I've implemented them from scratch as a way of learning how to use the OE since I haven't used it so much before.

Moderators, can you please lock this thread? The mod is 99% completed and will be released later today.

Edit: Before this thread gets locked, the mod is here for those who don't know: http://forums.relicnews.com/showthre...errain-Effects
