    Patch won't execute

I have the Gold Edition, and like everyone else, the automatic patching doesn't work for me.

So I'm trying to manually install the patches, starting with the 2.202 to 2.300 patch. I've gone to cohpatch.relic.com, downloaded the patches, and moved them to my desktop. So now what? I expected to double click the first file and for the patching to begin.

The file is named EN_2202_2300_Patch.exe.torrent, and Windows Vista doesn't know what to do with .torrent files, so I get the usual "Windows cannot open this file" message . So I deleted the ".torrent", so that it's now a .exe file. Now, the message I'm getting is:

"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher."

I have an x64-based OS, which certainly is not the problem. Does anyone know where I went wrong?

You will need a program capable of downloading .torrent files such as BitTorrent. Torrent files are target files which point to where the patches will be downloaded from. They don't actually contain any of the patch data so changing its format to .exe wont work.

Alternatively, you can download the .exe files from here and proceed as normal.

That was my mistake - everything is working now. Thank you!
