    Diorama Painting Competition

    Diorama Painting Competition

I tried a painting competition a few months back and it bombed spectacularly. But, being the optimistic type of guy I am I thought I would give it another whirl, although this time I thought I'd try and spice it up a bit and make it a diorama competition.

This will hopefully entice those of you who are into conversion and terrain building to try your hand along with the painters (and I include myself very tentatively in that bracket).

At the moment, there are no prizes; I will, however, try my hardest to scrounge some stuff from somewhere before the competition ends so that those who do take part and win can get something shiney through the post that they can go 'ooh, ahh' or 'that's crap' at.

    Spoiler

Well bugger. I've been working on such a thing for golden demon, and have all the requisite photos, but I doubt that will be allowed as it was started before competition was posted. Also one of the figures is scratchbuilt over a Wych body so doesn't meet the 50% requirement.

I doubt I'll have time for any other projects than this one, so I'm out of this one, sorry.

Sorted and thanks for the sticky.

    Cheers Arid and Inquisitor.

Tabby, I'm easy on the 50% Conversion thing (I'd rather see people taking part than not and I'm sure most folks will feel the same) so if you change your mind before the 30th November...

...I'll give you a 'hall pass' on the conversion thing.
Oh, and everybody else as well.

    So here's photo entry.

Decided upon doing something Tau related, as this forum is lacking Xenos lately. Firewarriors (probably 6) disembarking from a Devilfish in a wetlands/ swamp. (the bit bin is in there just cause i may use some stuff from it)

If Tinweasel enters his diorama I think his victory is assued

I am looking forward to seeing all the awesome work guys, I'd love to give it a bash but I have little time and that is taken up by making a TT worthy army.

I'm not surprised. Anything within three feet of you seems to end up full of knife shaped holes.

Yes, I want in on this as well. Throw me into the Lower Tier.
Have no idea of what kind of project I will take on yet, but I think it will be some kind of Space Marine thingy. And certainly not something too big of a diorama.

Inquisitor, got that and will update soon.

I had my entry all sorted out, then Arid had to go and show those models from the new starter set, grrr.

Hey, that's an idea, if GW release a couple of free models in WD as they did with the release for 5th, is anyone up for a side competition?

  11. #11
When you say: With a Side Competition. Do you mean BOTH a Diorama AND another kinda competition if White Dwarf have a cpl of Free Models included then?

Hopefully now that everyone's stopped faffing about with that Golden Demon Painting Competition that everyone seems to go nuts over, we can get some interest in THE painting and modelling event of the year.

I'm just waiting on a couple of bits and bobs to arrive and I'll be posting up my entry pretty soon.

Question, would the FW Angron count as a diorama? I'm thinking yes, but just wanting to make sure :P (If it does, ill be switching my entry to that ahah as ill likely have a better chance at actually finishing that :P )

Yep, seeing as there isn't too much interest at the moment anything will be welcome.

Would the Warhammer 40k 25th Anniversary Model count in this Competition?

If it does, I go for that one.

Well, it's not really a diorama, more like a space marine with a big fancy base, but what the hell, fill your boots.

Righto folks, I'm going to be putting my entry up shortly, however, we've only got 2 entries so far.

Can we please, please, pretty please, get some more interest. There used to be some great painting comps on these here forums, let's try and get another one on the go.

    Cheers

Does that mean if you win this painting competition you also win the prize you are supposed to give away to the winner?

As I said, IF I can get some prizes I will.
There's more chance of me being elected President of the US in the forthcoming election than there is of me winning anything. But if I do manage to get some prizes, and I do manage to get more than one vote (my record in painting competitions thus far) and win, any prize will go to the 2nd place.

But given the lack of interest in this painting comp, and the past few that I've tried to run, I reckon that it will be a moot point.

For some reason the Painting and Modelling Forum is dying a death and not a lot of folks are interested any more in the painting comps. Something I'm trying to turn around by running this.

Sorry, still sore after last time :-(

I'll see about next time if this one doesn't end up declared void too.

For me, I simply don't currently have the time to do a diorama, and don't feel right entering my demon entry.

However, run a competition in the new year and I will do my damndest to enter, and I can see what I can do to help out with prizes (especially if folk don't mind loose metal / plastic).

Thanks Tabby, it's very much appreciated.
There's still about 6 weeks to go so hopefully there'll be a bit more interest, if not I'll can this and go for one once Santa has been and gone.

    Cheers

Darn, only found this today. No way I can make and paint a diorama in half a month

Ahh well, another one comes and goes with a whimper.

Sorry folks, but we were unable once again to attract enough folks for competition.

I'll try and run one some time in the new year and hopefully we can get a decent amount of entries.

    Cheers

Could a Mod please unsticky this? Thanks
