The ammo box is still alive!

I am glad someone started to re scale vehicles, but i am curious how will they look next to a soldier.

  3. #3
So these are accurately scaled vehicles? I thought everyone had abandoned that concept due to all the work involved. Nice to see it come to fruition

They are already resized, just waiting to be released.

All of the ami models are already resized in fact; for the cmw, just missing the priest and the staghound.

nice work guys, still ask myself why relic has the right scale for things and Dow2 but not in COH, wouldnt be that wrong if they atleast had sized up all the vehicles by the same ammount it wouldnt be that bad.

What are you using as the common scale factor? Actual dimensions or the soldier models?

God, the best news in ages when it comes to CoH1! I really hope you get around in doing all to most of the vehicles in the game. However, won't it look a bit weird next to Infantry, walls, buildings and other objects? And how about visible vehicle crews like the Commander?

Then there's the issue of how they'll scale next to all the CMP stuff and models done by others...

On that note, I will say that I'm looking forward to grabbing a rescaled Hellcat and Marder III

Vehicle crews like commanders shouldn't be a problem if it's scaled after coh soldiers. For example the m3 stuart, it's as small as a jeep and yet the commander fits perfectly, because he's used as a size reference based on real sizes. Not sure about gun crews in open top vehicles though, it's a matter of placing there imo.

I checked the Firefly, and the commander fits in there fine. So I don't think it'll be that much of a problem.

It just occurred to me that the vCOH Marder's gun crew stands too high in the fighting compartment: The floor should actually be a fair bit lower.

The image also highlights how small the vehicle really was and how cramped the fighting compartment was o.O

    Yup, forgot about it.

    adapter.....on / off
    variety_name 40mm / 76mm

@MK: Yeah, I had to redo the fighting compartment back then. Take a look by yourself:

Even then the crew still stand too high, but hell infantry ingame is 1.95 m tall...

Indeed, but nice job, all things considered

Any chance of seeing a to-do list of things that will be rescaled?

Wonderful project! Thanks you TD, GnigruG, Slayerknecht, Halftrack! I am also concerned about all the CMP models now, also I was wondering...the infantry models are giant (for some reason beyond my comprehension) and so all the weapons (the ones I made as well) are ovesized, so the MGs on the vehicles will not match anyhow. This is a whopper of a project! I am so glad, this is truly the best news concerning CoH since Corsix released Modding Studio!

I think the best solution would be to scale according to the soldier models, not real dimensions. As for CMP models, a majority of them are mixes, so it wouldn't be too hard to rescale them.

  25. #25
@mk: That would be a huge list and to be honest I don´t feel like doing one. However, I can tell you for sure that every ami and cmw model its been resized already (except priest and staghound). For germans, I have resized a handful of them. What stops me from releasing them is time and an evil feeling of making you people wait

I have been working on this project for almost 14 months now (well the last time I resized a vehicle was back in february... been playing FH2). Future releases will include proper infantry models for every ami , german and cmw unit as well.

@inukshuk: I hope you can give a hand with some of those MGs by the way. I resized them too but I am using for them some models imported from MOW:AS (which I wont release). I am in a hurry to get a new m2hb since it is used in almost every ami vehicle and I dont like relic´s .

@eliw00d: Nope. I scaled them to match their real dimensions. And don´t worry about the CMP models, I have scaled most of them too (own versions btw).

Are you rescaling the human models, too? Either way, I suppose having slightly bigger humans will be better than much bigger vehicles. It will be hard to fit the oversized apes in a lot of the crewed vehicles, so good luck with that!

As for CMP, maybe DMz and the others would be willing to give you their source files for anything they made. You are a better animator than I am, so I know you wouldn't want my animations.

Anyways, best of luck on this venture!

Count me in. I am not exactly great timewise either but I am sure we can work something out. I can put together an .50cal for the vehicles. Could you PM me with your email so we could shorten commo, rather than via the forums.

By the way, when scaling the American medium tanks, be advised that the model Relic used is based on the M4A3(75)W, not the earlier M4A3. I am not sure if you already knew about this distinction, so I just wanted to let you know either way. Here are some stats on the M4A3(75)W, aka M4A3W, that could be useful:

    http://afvdb.50megs.com/usa/m4sherma...#M4A3%2875%29W

    http://www.onwar.com/tanks/usa/data/m4a375w.htm

It shares the same hull as the M4A3(76)W and M4A3E8(76)W and was deployed around the same time as those models in late 1944. I would recommend using the COH:O model since it is a mixture of both the M4A3(75)W and M4A3(76)W. Unfortunately, Relic didn't do enough homework and modeled the M4A3(76)W by mistake and not the M4A3E8(76)W...

  32. #32
Thanks for the advice but its too late already. As I wrote a couple of post ago, all the ami models had been resized for almost a year now...

Wait so what does the COH:O look like then? Is the 76mm thing a state or something?

It has a "Sherman Ace" state, which is actually just the M4A3(76)W with the 76mm M1A2 and sandshields (which are erroneously latched on like the E8).

Yeah, they did a good job on it. It's funny, though, because the skin implies that it is an E8, but it still has VVSS and not HVSS. It would be an easy thing to add, though. Then you'd have all three late models in one package.

Do the mudguards have their own mesh thing [not sure what it's called] to make a state out of the mudguards too?

You can make any number of states based on individual meshes, so yes. In this particular case, I have an upgrade_armor state set to on.

How would I access the Sherman Ace model? Is it available through modding? If so, is there a path someone can post so that I can wind my way through to it?

Fairly certain those files are in the CoH Online archives, which are of a newer version than what Corsix' can open.

More to the point, Eli are the CoHO models compatible with vCoH?

    Ooooooo Cromwells! Cheeers TD

My guess is that the A22 Churchill Mk IV will be next on the release list seeing as you're on a British AFV kick at the mo...perhaps an A22F Mk VII?

  48. #48
Yeah great work TD and the rest of the modders who contributed to this project and made these models possible.

You would need COH:Online in order to extract it or I can upload it at some point.

    @Jes
Absolutely. It's the same as the COH model with extra meshes and such, so you can just replace it. In fact, you could extract it straight from COH:O and use it immediately without any editing.

    @tankdestroyer
It's nice to see your first few models again! I always liked that you did the CS variants. Any chance for a CS variant of the Tetrarch?

Hopefully we see some American and German stuff soon...

Also, provided you get permission from DMz, Beefy and Adiya, I could provide any CMP source models you might need (if they don't have them).
