Marines Alpha Mod for CoH 1.71

    Welcome to Alpha Mod

"Alpha Mod" is a fun, fast-paced modification for Company of Heroes 1.71 using Corsix Mod Studio 4.2.

Key features unique to Alpha Mod:

    1) Six starting factions that share the upper branches of the tech-tree. Please view the basic tech-tree layout at the website below. The infantry for each faction reflect a specific type of army.

Alpha: Modern mobile high powered infantry.
    Bravo: Highly equipped Royal Marines.
    Charlie: A guerrilla army.
Delta: Reflects the Peoples Liberation Army (PLA) of China.
    Echo: City based rebels.
Fox Trot: European Union combined forces army.

    2) Optimized hot keys. QWER, ASDF, ZXCV are the 12 keyboard keys used to issue unit orders; this makes R key the "attack key".

    3) Modernized weapon statistics reflecting higher power/shot rate.

Mod Status: Released as Playable! - Balancing updates to be released as needed.

Please visit the website for further details, instructions, downloads and Tech-Tree.

Isn't a mod for 1.71 of CoH horribly outdated? I'm not sure an up-to-date CoH installation of 2.603 can run this.

Withernwick you know that place you've never heard of
To get a good mod community It will need to be TOV/OF and 2.602 compatible.

Personally, I have no objections to anyone making any mod for any version of these games. Not everyone will have the same versions at any given moment. I say the more the merrier.

This was posted last year, if you notice. So...yeah it'd probably be outdated.

I can understand some people preferring earlier versions of the game for nostalgic reasons or what they perceive as better balance. But, I have a hard time understanding why someone would choose an older version of the game to mod, since that limits your player base as well as possible features and options. Just my $0.02!

On the other hand, maybe he only has one version of the game and is modding based on what he has right now. Everybody doing this sorta thing got their start somewhere. I'd be curious to see what he might do with later versions myself. Point here is we should probably be encouraging new modders to the game even if most of us these days are on a different version.

I'd try it myself if I didn't have to reinstall everything fresh otherwise I could give a little bit more constructive criticism. About the only thing I could comment on at the moment are the keyboard shortcuts. I'm sure a lot of people might find them useful, although speaking for myself here, I rarely use that many. I find that I tend to use the combat group ones the most, and the mouse for most everything else.

Its strange though that after so many years playing this that I might tend to want to learn and use more the short cut commands I guess once I find a kind of middle ground of key usage, I just go with that or go click happy discovering a game's options to find what I like.

]I am gonna be honest with you those icons don't look good at all. They are very plain, with very little detail, the Colors look God awful when together, and lastly they don't look modern. They look like they are from some acidity alien shooter, not a modern setting. Add some more texture, make them unique looking, and if you really don't want to change them at lest change the green to a textures black or brown. The green really does look horrible.

I made a rough mock up of a more detailed version of what I think you could do. Don't settle for not enough detail. I am sure you can do better then what you currently have.

Thanks for the advice. The situation is that I started modding at version 1.71 and never moved on from there. It's the same mod as from several years ago. I just try to revive it from time to time in hopes to find a few people to game it with. Nice bumbleBeeTune very kewl image you made there.

    Cheers,
