Headphone problem with DoW2

I run Windows 7. I get no error messages. The game appears to run fine. Except the headphones don't work after logging into the windows live account. The headphone volume and the speaker volume are for some reason separated, and the game volume only works connected to the speaker volume.

I have never had problems using headphones... but apparently I can't do so with Dawn of War 2 and I refuse to pay more money to get Retribution, which apparently solves this issue.

I found a thread like this and that was their solution. Spend more money. Uum, no.

Setting up a headphone in GFWL is a nightmare. You need to play around with your windows sound options and the GFWL sound settings to configure the game output to be seperate from your voice output.
