    Military WIP - Infantry Skirmish Mod

    I have done an Infantry Only mod in the past that had so much added or changed that it made the AI just plain stupid in Skirmish. I wanted to try do a Mostly Infantry Only mod focused on Skirmish Play to try and keep the AI playing well. What I have so far is the ground work for it. I have not touched any doctrines yet but have focused on all the main buildable units. So far I am just focusing on the Allies and Werhmacht. Feel free to make any suggestions.

    Changelog for Ver 0.1.0

    Allies

    Doubled Engineer Squad to 6 Soldiers
    Doubled Riflemen Squad to 12 Soldiers (1 Sergeant, 11 Riflemen)
    Increased Heavy MG Team Squad to 5 Soldiers
    Increased Mortar Team Squad to 5 Soldiers
    Reduced Sniper Pop Count to 1

    All squads that have been increased in size have had their time cost and resource cost reduced to be close to original.

    Instead of removing vehicles, I increased the cost to an obscene amount which would prevent the AI from buying to see how it would affect the AI versus removing the units from the buildings. Now they simply can’t afford vehicles.

    Jeep – Manpower = 25000
    M8 Armored Car - Manpower = 25000
    57mm AT Gun – Manpower = 24850
    T17 Staghound Armored Car – Manpower = 25000
    Increased Tank Depot Cost – Manpower = 25000 – Testing cost of building high instead of all the units being high, this way the manpower isn’t wasted on the building.


    Werhmacht

    Doubled Pioneers Squad to 4 Soldiers
    Doubled Volkgrenadiers Squad to 10 Soldiers (1 Volkgrenadier Leader and 9 Volkgrenadiers)
    Doubled Grenadiers Squad to 8 Soldiers (1 Grenadier Leader and 7 Grenadiers)
    Increased MG 42 Crew Squad to 5 Soldiers

    Motorcycle – Manpower = 25000
    Pak 38 50mm AT Gun – Manpower = 24805
    Schwimmwagen – Manpower = 25000
    Sdkfz234 Armored Car – Manpower = 25000
    150mm Nebelwerfer Rocket Battery – Manpower = 24805
    Stug IV – Manpower = 25000
    Ostwind Flakpanzer – Manpower = 25000
    Panzer IV – Manpower = 25000

    Sounds like a nice project, but why don't you simply remove the buildings that produce vehicles from the construction menu, and remove all other vehicles from the buildings?

    In my first mod, I removed vehicles and added some extra trucks for troops, etc. The AI seemed to SPAM trucks then and never really did anything. So one assumption I had was that removing units might have impacted the AI, perhaps it was the new units I added. So I was going to first simply make the vehicles too expensive so that they just wouldn't be missing. Perhaps in your experience or someone else's they can confirm that removing stock units does not impact the AI intelligence?

    Well of course the vehicles are listed for AI to build, but shouldn't break it if they aren't there. The reason why it spammed the trucks would have been that they were cheap and AI had a high priority for them (this is set in class_rating under squad_ai_ext in the sbps file).

    But to make AI work properly in an Infantry Only Mod, you'd need to edit it anyway.
