Hello,
I'm at college right now and to the best of my knowledge my school uses a NAT router (internet) system which messes with online play of some games. I was trying to go online in both DoW vanilla and Soulstorm but neither could connect to the online lobby. I'm fairly certain it's my school internet because I could connect just fine back home. The error message it gave me is as follow:
"Couldn't connect to the lobby system, check your internet connection, and if you have them, your firewall and your router."
I know my internet connection is good, I can get on websites and Ventrilo and such. My firewall gives DoW full permission and I turned it off and tried to connect again with no luck. I read on an older thread that someone else was having the same problem just because of NAT router settings, it blocked certain things that GameSpy/DoW needed to boot up the online lobby system.
I was just wondering if other people are still having this problem or if anyone has a type of fix or loophole for it. Just some feedback on the issue would be nice to reassure me that it is not an issue on my computer's part. Thanks a lot for any help or advice.
EDIT: I went over to store with free wi-fi and it worked again there just like back home so I assume it's not my computer but rather my college's internet.
